Re: Electrical question
This is a complete guess, but at 400 amps, you most likely have 208. Three phase in commercial areas is almost exclusively 208 or 440, and you don¡¯t usually see 440 until you get into 800 amps or

Re: Electrical question
Yes, 10-3 is fine, and 208 is absolutly the most common 3 phase voltage. First, is possible there is 480/277 (those are two voltages that are part of the same system, like 120/208; if you have one

Re: Spindle Sander
I thought about those shaper sanders but also thought about the speed and related problems. I ended up getting a stand alone Grizzly that has about 10 spindles. First off my not a huge fan of

I was about to say the same thing and recommend the Rigid sander.
I bought the Rigid shortly after buying the schleiffix and have been using the Rigid ever since. I forgot I had the Schleiffix and

Re: Electrical question
Glen, if you have access to an outlet and a multimeter that measures AC
voltages as high as 480V, you can simply measure the AC voltage across pairs
of outlet terminals. Be careful not to create a

Re: Spindle Sander
Thanks David. I suspected that I could not slow the shaper adequately. My heart is set on oscillating spindle Sander with cast iron table but it is way down on priority list. I had heard and read that

Re: Electrical question
208 is common along with 220
Basically the lower the volts the higher the amp draw and of course larger wires with lower volts.
You can put buck and boost to jack currents up i.e. 208 to 220.
If you

Yes, I have used them and sold them off. They run too fast, don¡¯t oscillate, burn up paper quickly. This is a better alternative

Electrical question
I have a question regarding 3 phase power, as some of you know I am trying to decide between Felder and Martin. A s I am trying to work out the little details, I am questioning the power that my new

Has anyone used Felder schleiffix sanding drums? They are in xmas catalog. I will have to go to the shop to check how slow I can run the shaper. I would also like to know if paper is held well by this

Re: Standard motor ok for VFD?
Thanks Brian,
I will likely feed at the same range as original. Should be the highest
speed when I couple the motor to the gearbox?

Re: Standard motor ok for VFD?
Pretty much any current manufacture motor will run on a VFD, the trick is how much above and below the standard 60hz you can run. I would say from 30hz to 120hz on most motors. My CNC mill runs from

Standard motor ok for VFD?
I am considering replacing an uber complex mechanical variable speed drive
(feed system on a Griggio planer) with a VFD. I already bought a new C
faced 3 phase motor and have a drive that will work ,

I don't know if this is suitable for a shaper, but it works great for my jointer. General International out of Canada has collapsible accordion style roller stands that collapse down to about 2 foot

Simantech Inc carries the full range of Aigner (and I think they use Martin as a distributor :-)). Their website is up and running, has all the prices if you need to compare costs to the Felder unit
