My Nova Viking was delivered by a full size semi on Monday. It had a lift that was as wide as the semi. Once the floor was rotated from vertical to horizontal, the top leaf was flipped over and it became twice as deep. I think the platform was something close to 8’x6’. The driver (young guy) had no clue of its weight rating, which was scary. I guess if he is given the pallet he is going to unload it, without thinking much.
I just searched and spotted more than one that looked like what I saw. This one is rated for 4400# and is 86”x63”.
If my $1000 drill can afford to come on this, why can’t $10K and more machines. BTW, Grizzly charged me $199 for delivery and $34 for lift gate service.

Rohit,
I suspected that was a possibility but now that you gave me a "proof of existence" I was able to push on the Felder rep. After trying ti give me the usual runaround, he did the work and came back with a forklift delivery for just a couple hundred more. I would be livid if I didn't feel like a complete fool.
Do you expect they will drop yours curbside or actually place the crate in your shop?

Wow - what a PITA. ?They asked me to do the same thing about my issues with a face mill which really pissed me off, so instead of writing a letter, I posted a??condemning the product and sent Shars a link to the video. ?That video has gotten over 4,000 views, so just imagine the impact on their sales. ?I recommend you do the same - there is no excuse for such crappy service IMO.
Thanks for the heads up on the Recommended Tools List Aaron - document updated. ?

To follow up on my return request for Shars:

1. After 2 days of non-response, I had to poke them again with an email.?? They finally responded a second time.
2. They are requiring me to write a detailed letter for "why I am returning this product".
3. They are requiring me to pay shipping charges for return.

While #3 is very common for many vendors, it's just one more nail in the coffin for my opinion on Shars support.?? Needles to say, I will not be ordering anything from Shars in the future.
?
After review of other options, I now have an Insize "absolute" caliper on order.?? We'll see how that one works out.
?
David - I know that you had a couple of Shars items listed in your "Recommended Tools to Self-Commision and Calibrate" document.?? Just thought I'd mention this in case you want to remove those references.
Thanks for sharing your experience with Shars. I have several items from them but do not recall having to return one. Writing a letter is a bit much in my opinion.

Steff-Maggi 2048 power feeder for sale (Denver area)
Both short and long arms and some extra wheels. Excellent condition, single phase 220v, hobby use only. Local pickup would be best. I've made wood crates for the pieces but it is heavy. Shipping. might cost almost as much as the feeder. Asking $500.

FWIW, ABF freight has a flatbed + forklift combo service that Felder can arrange for the delivery. My saw will be here (Seattle) in May (hopefully) and that's the route I have chosen.
For that machine, I would still go for a drop-deck trailer.?? You could actually back in enough where the trailer wheels are just inside the garage so that you don't have any driveway angle to worry about.
?
Tilt deck trailers might work, but trying to match the driveway angle with the trailer angle is much more difficult.? You have a really heavy machine/pallet to deal with.?? Unless your doing a forklift (not recommended unless you are skilled/trained), then drop-deck trailer is the way to go.
Scuff the roller-contacting surface of the finish on the stock with some 80 grit if you can, finer if you cant. Just enough to make it better traction?when you are running out of it. Might be surprised what a quick pass with a hand block or power orbiter could do for your feeding if stock is too smooth.

The chattering is likely due to the type and thickness of material. Try to lift the boards up as you feed them in, at least until they are under the outfeed rollers. Same goes on the outfeed, if you lift the boards as they get past the infeed rollers, you will hold them flat on the table. Some timber isn't an issue, but others are when it becomes thinner, i suspect this is one of those situations.

Thank you all for sharing your experience. It sounds like a drop deck trailer (something I did not even know existed) is a safer option than trying to deal with a forklift. I spent several days figuring out weight ratings and I cannot get a trailer that is simultaneously light and wide enough, so I plan to get a pickup, a 16" trailer and a pallet jack from United. Yet another skill to learn.
The question now is whether to get a drop deck or a tilt deck. With a tilted driveway, I would assume that a tilt deck could come almost level with the garage floor and give me more space for maneuver in the garage itself. Any pitfalls I should keep in mind?

Getting stuck is not good! I bought a bandsaw that shipped upright. It was delivered via liftgate. I thought I could out it in my garage while I figured out how to get it to my shop.?
Unfortunately the crate was an inch too tall to get into my garage! I had to hustle to get friends to help me get it in rated and moved before it rained that day.?
In general because I don’t have your schematic Felder circuits work as follows. There is a microswitch on each end of the spindle travel. These, once tripped, stop further travel in that direction and only allow travel in the opposite direction. This hold true until the switch releases.
