Re: Barth Multipress RP3001 with clamps and casework supports [Seattle area]
As for the 500V, I have the older version and a good friend has the newer version. ?I think having some experience working with my Barth 500V motivated him to get one. ?He likes his better. ?This is because the foot operated lift works way easier on his (located in the middle where mine is located on one end). ?I do think the older one may be sturdier-heavier, which I guess is a negative if you move it around and a positive if you want stationary. ?I do not think they are all that different.
?
I personally think that if you really want to do certain things on a rock solid bench, that is what a very well built traditional workbench is for. ?I never thought about selling my Barth bench. ?I did once think I would sell my traditional workbench. ?I changed my mind, and spent some time refinishing the top and adding a few clamping accessories and looking back, if I sold it, ?I surely would have regretted selling it, big time, especially as I am now devoting more time to using hand tools. ?

Grit Dust Bin Sensor
Does anyone have any experience with this product? ?I know Alex Boulds had mentioned the product was in development a year or so ago, but I haven't been able to find any reviews online. ?I'm considering adding the Grit system to my shop and the dust bin alternatives are either poorly reviewed (Clearvue or Oneida) or expensive (roto type indicators).
Thanks in advance to anyone who can share their experience.

Re: Does Felder Still Produce Machines with VFD
I just got a brand new FD250 variable speed with a lenze vfd. It looks like it has a keyboard input but that was probably for calibration at the factory? On Mon, Apr 7, 2025 at 2:48?PM imran via <imranwoodshop=[email protected]> wrote:

Does Felder Still Produce Machines with VFD
开云体育All folks I have helped so far have older machines and all have Lenze VFD. I am helping a member in UK whose Lenze VFD needs to be replaced. So asking this question to find out if there is a Felder out there with a newer VFD and specifically one with keypad initialization. If true, would like to see what kind and how it is interfaced. I am also interested in learning if anyone has replaced their VFD with a new one that has keypad programming/initialization. No reason to reinvent the wheel. Appreciate feedback. Adding to a order
Hello,
?
Here’s a question for someone in the Seattle/Portland area.
?
We are considering adding a pleated air filter to our AF22. ?After getting a quote from Felder, they
want $500.00 to ship a $600.00 item. ?This obviously is not cost effective.
?
So it was suggested I try and ‘pair up’ with someone who is ordering a machine, and add it to their delivery.
?
We would contribute money towards the freight cost, and pick it up at your location.
?
Any thoughts, other than I’m crazy?

Re: Need 12" digital caliper
开云体育Aaron, I wanted IP67 but could not justify it. Hope you like it. Imran Malik IAM Wood Creations On Apr 7, 2025, at 11:38?AM, Aaron Inami via groups.io <ainami@...> wrote:
? Thanks Imran, I had forgotten about Shars!

Thanks for all the suggestions.?? Out of all of them, I liked the Shars IP67 model the best and ended up ordering one (plus a couple of accessories):

Re: Aftermarket saw blade guard for Hammer Winner
My riving knife is only *slightly* out of parallel, and I haven't really bothered to fix it since it does not appear to affect my results.? I have a 3D printer and printed that replacement block, however it didn't come out super clean for me so I have never bothered to try to use it.
?
The only problem I do get with my riving knife is that one of the bolts that holds the mounting bracket in place will loosen over time, which results in the knife being wobbly.? When that happens I just have to go back in and tighten up that bolt (it's just behind the belt close to the blade arbor).? One of these days I will attempt to put some lock tight on that bolt... of course I've been telling myself that for years. |
Re: Need 12" digital caliper
开云体育I saw most of the ones recommended here but bought Shars because IP54 construction was important to me. Shars DPS is an absolute origin as well. It doesn’t not require origin resetting once it is set. Imran Malik IAM Wood Creations On Apr 7, 2025, at 9:21?AM, KRPatel via groups.io <kamalsonal@...> wrote:

Re: KF 700 - shutting off as blade touches wood
开云体育Hi David, Just FYI, I have helped 2 members with Felder VFD setup where the reverse light is not an indicator of the status of the 24VAC string with all switches. It only is an indicator of 24VAC presence. Also, Kyle should know that if it is the overload relay it will reset in 2 to 3 minutes and power cycling is not necessary. You misunderstood me. I had a case where moving the slider cut the machine off but it was due to the slider switch circuit. I was merely saying that same could be happening here depending upon where his outrigger is and it may appear that touching the blade with material is the cause but infact it is just slider movement. Long shot and don’t even know if he is even using the slider. Imran Malik IAM Wood Creations On Apr 7, 2025, at 1:07?AM, David P. Best via groups.io <dbestworkshop@...> wrote:
?Yes - “most” but not “all”. ?Even though, as he says, "don't even have a head to toss on” the shaper, just turning on the shaper spindle and observe the yellow “reverse” light would tell a lot about the condition. ?I seriously doubt the outrigger position or contacting the blade would trigger the machine to shut down unless it’s triggering the stop circuit via vibration. ?The idea the outrigger position or blade contact would disrupt the 24V circuit is tin-foil-hat thinking IMO. ?Since his machine is single-phase, there could be an issue with he internal VFD, but his statement "Able to switch off and back on at machine so does not come back on without cycling power switch” suggests to me that it’s the stop-circuit as the culprit here. ?I would suggest the following. ?When the machine stops during a cut, cycle the reverse switch on the shaper and observe the yellow indicator light to see if it turns on. ?Report here. ?If that light does illuminate when the reverse switch is toggled, then it’s probably not the stop-circuit at fault here, and more likely a bad relay, or some other issue with the VFD. ? If that light does not illuminate, then it’s most likely the stop circuit, which could be one of the microswitches, bad connection to the “Stop” button switches, dirty slider bearing ways, or poor connection from the electronic panel to the stop switches.
