Hi Richard,

I do not know what happened earlier with the power hookup but most likely it is something simple. Try not to worry too much. What you did with blade elevation should not have hurt anything, at least I am not aware of it.

Let us know what you find.

Hi Richard,

Yes there are fuses and possibly a resettable overcurrent detector. Your schematic is also in the electrical box, so not much can happen until tomorrow. You can scan the chassis for a resettable fuse. On some machines, like my Dual 51, they have a fuse that is externally accessible. This is what it looks like. If it is popped just push the flexible bulb to reset it.

I know it stopped while running but for grins make sure that the red emergency stop button is not engaged.

Most likely not relevant but I am curious; you were lowering the saw blade (assume motorized control) while it was spinning and then it stopped?

Hello Everyone,
I've received finally my K945s and seem like I broke it as well after a few days only. I replaced the extension cable what goes to my electric box, turned on the saw to check, lowered the blade and the saw turned off with a funny click or something and also tripped all the breakers in my box. I checked the cables, corrected the bad connections, everything is back up and running except the saw. Doesn't turn on at all. My electric box on the saw is sealed by Felder, so of course no way of opening that until they provide authorization (no bloody hotline globally over the weekend what I find is a joke after such an investment). Is there a breaker inside the electric box of the saw or fuse what may have been blown? Any ideas how bad this issue could be? Its a 400v unit with 7.5kw motor and the issue was that some of the cables were not connected correctly to the socket for the extension cable (I think L1 and N was mixed) but thats all corrected now. No lights come on on the saw, also the motor doesnt start, nothing what so ever. Thanks a lot in advance! Rich

Hi Andrew,

Glad the machine is up and running. Regarding testing thermal overload relay, there should be a test button. The contacts for the 3 phases are normally closed. You can verify this with multimeter in continuity mode. Use one probe on the phase input contact of the relay and the other on the output contact for same phase. Meter should beep or show near zero resistance in each case. But when the test button is pressed the same two points should not beep or show very high resistance (usual meter will show OL). Obviously, there should be high resistance between phases as well.

Hello all,

just coming back to update on what the issue was, it sucks when people solve a problem and don’t come back to share with a forum about the solution.. so posting here for anyone that is experiencing a similar problem in the future.

It did end up being a blown transformer, I’d like to give a massive Thankyou to Imran and everyone else here for helping me with the troubleshooting process, I’d probably still be trying to figure it out otherwise. Kudos to you guys for all the help that you supply this group.?

Good suggestion on the aftermarket transformer, I considered it after Felder didn’t have the part in stock and had quite a long lead time to get it in (about 6 weeks). After weighing the options I decided to order the part from felder with expedited DHL shipping as I needed the machine running again asap, I think it all came to about $250 CAD. After weighing in the cost of the aftermarket transformer with a case and thermal epoxy I figured the felder part was the best option.?

Still not quite sure what caused the transformer to blow considering it didn’t stop working while I was using the machine. My best idea is that the thermal overload relay contacts got welded shut, causing it to not function anymore allowing a power surge zapped the transformer. I still need to take them apart and look. In that case I’m very thankful for the fuses on the transformer or I’m sure I’d be replacing a lot more components.?

Once the transformer came in I got it installed and the machine was running again in 15 minutes.

Best regards and thanks again!
Andrew

Dylos User Manual

This is a rave review. After reading the recent thread about air quality monitors, I placed an order for a Dylos unit. I cannot remember the last time I purchased an electronic device that came with a printed user manual that I could actually read and understand. The Dylos User Manual is printed in font large enough to read without magnification, the grammar is correct, the sentences are concise and understandable. What a treat! Perhaps the folks at Felder/Hammer and Festool should confer with the writers at Dylos. Many thanks to Dylos.

Hi Imran,

I used Acrobat Pro to modify the schematic, I have a subscription as I use it for my invoicing. If you need anything altered feel free to email it over to me and I’d be happy to modify what you need.

Best regards,
Andrew

Re: Router Lift in slider outfeed table

Oh yeah, I remember why I had it so far away from the wall.?? I have the edge sander against the wall and still need enough clearance to feed sheets onto the saw (old picture below).? Your situation may differ.

Re: Router Lift in slider outfeed table

Aaron,

Thanks for the info. My B3 is equipped with the same fence as your machine and the dust collection installation takes a similar footprint. I can see taking the tape measure out and looking into the concept. I currently have a Jessem Mast-R-system mounted on its own cabinet and would love to make better use of my limited space (single car garage).

J.

Re: Router Lift in slider outfeed table

Currently, the table is 25-3/4" from the wall due to my current duct setup:

I could potentially move it closer by about 5" (I might do this).? I would say the K700S requires about 10" minimum distance between the table and the wall to allow for the fence bar and rip-fence assembly (see pic here).? You would have to look at your individual machine to see what is required.

Re: Router Lift in slider outfeed table

Aaron,

?Very well done Sir; bravo!

One question: How far is your machine from the wall??

Regards,

Jacques

Re: Router Lift in slider outfeed table

I built a router table setup that is used in place of the out-feed table on my K700S slider:

I've documented the entire process in this thread below, but let me know if you want me to answer any specific questions here.?

The two things you need to watch out for:
1. space for the outrigger support.? I had to build a custom notch to allow for that support bar to angle in/out (you can see in picture).
2. The table top must extend out from the frame to allow room for stuff like the overhead support system.? You may end up re-doing the table/frame assembly if you find stuff in the way.

I should be taking delivery of a new kappa 450x in a few weeks and selling my Sawstop. One issue I will have to address is my router table setup. Currently my router table is attached via a cast iron extension on the sawstop. I do not have space for a separate router table.?

Was considering my options and the one I'm currently considering is using the cast iron router extension in-lieu of the factory Felder outfeed table so that the router lift becomes a part of the setup. Not sure if this is feasible or a good idea. Seems like it should be ok.?

Anyone out there use this setup? Any recommendations? Considerations? Photos would be appreciated as well if anyone has them.

Thanks

Re: BF7-41 (1999) Slider Adjustment

Paul, I’ve been there, done that. ?You are lucky that Felder had spare parts for a 25 year old machine.

Please review the attached document that describes the procedure I used to make bearing way adjustments on a sliding table. ?This was on an X-Roll table, but the same techniques apply to the older round-bearing sliders such as yours.

To be successful at re-aligning the bearing ways for the sliding table, you are going to need some kind of tool/jig/proceedure that measures the distance between the two bearing ways to a tight tolerance (like 0.001”). ?It needs to measure the distance between the V-section of the bearing ways from tangent-to-tangent, and then you can adjust the outside rail to get the two bearing ways coplanar to each other.

At the following link you will see a series of videos on how I went about it and a comparison of the alignment jig I came up with and the one Felder uses at the factory. ?

Attached is a PDF document describing this challenge and how I went about measuring and making adjustments. ?This is the jig I came up with using two precision roller pins and a digital caliper kept in alignment across the ways with a jig/fixture..

There is a thread in the archive that discusses all this in some detail, and another example of a jig that Jamie came up with to take the measurements.

This is the Felder factory jig:

This is the version that Jamie came up with that is close to the Felder variety:

Hope this helps.

Hi Paul,

I have only done this for Xroll and nothing (in regards to ways) is loosened in this process. If you have loosened the rail, that would be a bear to get right again. I recall David Best sharing a picture of a trolley (for lack of better description) to reset the ways, I am sure he will chime in.
