Re: Rangate 300 Lift Cart
开云体育? James, Wouldn’t that push handle get in the way a lot of the time? ?Similar to the Jet one that David Best posted too. ?I’d think for me that push handle would just be in my way all the time. ? And Barth is out for me if they are selling carts for 10K, damn! ? Right now I’m still leaning towards that Fat 300 S, one reason being that double sided foot pedal access. ?That seems like a really nice feature/convenience to have one each long side of the table. ? Re: Rangate 300 Lift Cart
This one has better value,?just need to make a?top,?that is an easy?task for a woodworker. Weight is 101KG, Range cart is 55KG, price is US$2599, wow. James On Tue, Jul 11, 2023 at 9:59?PM David P. Best <dbestworkshop@...> wrote:

Re: Saw just ain't cutting right
Thank you for your replies.
Yes, I do get burning and am not sure if my belt is loose. Can you please advise me on how ro remedy these issues? You would think that since my saw is relatively new, that these things would be properly set at the factory.? Thank you, Ed Cohen? E. Cohen Designs? Easthampton, MA |
Re: Rangate 300 Lift Cart
$10k for a shop cart?!? It better be attached to a forklift.?
I have the Hafelle panel cart also. That thing is a tank. It's not my favorite for moving sheet goods, our drywall cart is better for that. But for the flexibility of tilting and working on a piece, and adjusting the height as necessary it can't be beat. Jason Holtz J. Re: Rangate 300 Lift Cart
开云体育David I have the 10’ shop cart for a while I made quick adapters to hinge doors .? Also changed two wheels so the all swivel.? I also cut the side shelf so I can flip and pin So it is not sticking up in the way ! It now fits under my bandsaw outfeed table when not in use but usually has parts in progress stored. Unit is well built and has a little bit of adjustment . Handy outfeed table also. I also have a couple heavy duty Southtown? One sits 7” off floor and has ?wheels and a wheel hitch it has a steel top and goes up to 42” ? ?4’x 6’ 4,000# cap.? My most used work bench is steel frame with full storage under on wheels . 30” tall with 1” Baltic brich top and 1/4 “ Masonite throw away .? I also have a few nice adjustable surgery tables they have numerous adjustments . Re: Rangate 300 Lift Cart
Felder describes the casters as "2 lockable swivel castors and 2 swivel casters with directional locks".
The "2 swivel casters with directional locks" will lock into one direction, but will still roll.? This acts as a fixed castor to help with transporting material across the shop? (if you have 4 fully swivel castors, it's really difficult to control the cart when you are moving stuff around).? If you "unlock" them, they become a standard swivel castor. The "2 lockable swivel castors" are complete dual-locking casters.? They will lock in any direction as well as apply a brake to the wheel so that the table does not roll off on its own. |
Re: Rangate 300 Lift Cart
开云体育OK, I just can’t help myself when it comes to these carts. ?So here is my perspective. I have the Barth 500V in my shop and love it, but frankly it’s not terribly robust as a scissors-lift cart. ?The other cart I have in my shop which I love is a tilting panel cart made by Shop Carts in Topeka. ?Now this is well built, and at $1,500 a veritable bargain compared to the Felder and Rangate units. ?It doesn’t have the lifting range of the others, but the tilting top helps a lot more when it comes to dealing with large panels. ?I have added a 7x 40” Appleply top to mine and it works very well as a roll around bench when tilted flat. ?If memory serves, Brian Lamb has the Hafele equivalent. ? I bring this up here not to bash Felder or Rangate, but to encourage users to consider usage and the cost/value relationship. This is the cart I have (in addition to my Barth 500): It’s been a while since I looked over the Felder Fat 300 carts. ?I know lots of people have and love them, but the Fat 300 and the Rangate units have the same lift capacity at 600 pounds, which isn’t exactly Mil-Spec. ?There are lots of other carts on the market with better weight capacity at significantly less money, so there must be some pretty serious margin in the Felder and Rangate units. ?Here’s just one example - it would be interesting to compare the weight (of the bench, not capacity) of a Fat 300 to this Jet. ?Now, the Jet is made in China, so is my Jet pallet jack which has given me less trouble over the years than the Barth - go figure. ?My Barth 500V is rated at 1,000 pounds, and even so, it doesn’t impress me with robust build quality. ?I love the Barth cart, but at $10K now, whew!!! Re: Rangate 300 Lift Cart
On mine two casters swivel and lock the wheels from moving.? Two others swivel or lock in alignment with the frame and table.? This description looks accurate - On Tue, Jul 11, 2023 at 8:21 PM Wade Dees <wjdsignature@...> wrote:

开云体育Could somebody on here who has a Fat 300 S lift table confirm this description detail Felder states about this table. ?See attached picture. ?Circled in red describing the castor configuration. ?Essentially does this have four locking casters then? ?Thx? Re: Rangate 300 Lift Cart
Ed,
When I got the rangate I copied the top that Joe Calhoon made for his at the Alpine shop.? I used 5/4 Maple. No holes in the top.? I have another workbench with a parf top that I made. The Rangate is a quality cart.? I also have a Husky adjustable top cart too.? Great for the price, but not the same. PK |
Re: Rangate 300 Lift Cart
As an FYI, when I was thinking about the Rangate cart before I went with the Husky, Greg at Rangate (this was in August, 2022) told me they can make a top in any size I want and can even have the 22mm holes like the Barth Bench.?
Not sure what is happening with that currently, but an FYI. |
Re: Rangate 300 Lift Cart
开云体育Yep — they are pretty great although I’d like another two locks. ?It’s only an issue when on a very unlevel portion of my garage floor.
