Re: I found the Altendorf....
It sold, but i couldnt tell what year it was. Also, what length was the slider?? I will have to start another thread one day comparing some of the higher end brands of sliders. I know next to nothing about Altendorf models through the years. I started a thread on sawmill creek about vintage Martin models prior to 2000.Its hard to find someone that knows all the specifics on these models through the years. What to look for, how much, etc.? Patrick On Tue, Dec 15, 2020 at 12:36 PM David Kumm <davekumm@...> wrote:

Thoughts on going from K500 P to K700 S
I am a woodworking hobbyist of 35+ yrs, I have a 24¡¯ x 24¡¯ shop I built in my backyard 20 yrs ago. On 8/2019 I purchased new a K500 Pro model with 80¡± slider and added Mac¡¯s super pneumatic clamps. I have been very pleased with the saw except for the lack of ability to rip 8¡¯ sheet goods. Knowing what I know now I am seriously considering buying the K700 S with 9¡¯ slider, Power Drive 2 #201, digital cross stop #171, digital display for rip fence #86, overhead saw guard #86, single phase 4 hp #162 and electrically driven scoring unit #23. Any advice or recommendations, at 63 years old I need to either be happy with what I got or go for what I really want ? Not sure I want to go through the hassle of selling the K500 P and the financial loss and then the whole process of receiving and setting up the new machine, although will seriously consider paying for FELDER to commission the K700 S. Thanks in advance

Re: Phase Converter Wanted
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýCliff, ? I have corrected myself many times here but looks like I have to pay my dues for the bad info I put out. I never said PP had choppy output, I was incorrectly concerned with a higher voltage. A VFD on the other hand, by design, puts a PWMed voltage output. This is where a transistor (IGBT to be specific) is turned on/off (10KHz is common) to conserve power expended. This is the reason that a VFD can be the side of a loaf of bread and weigh nothing compared to the size and weight of PP. It does appear that PP is getting smaller and lighter though. Here is a scope plot of my VFD. Yellow is the voltage and green is the current. As you can see voltage is discontinuous (on/off) and current is continuous. Motor runs fine as long as current is continuous. ? ? Imran ? From: [email protected] On Behalf Of Cliff Rohrabacher, Esq.

Re: Sliding Table Saw Felder K700 S - Minnesota
I paid $7k for a 2003 k700s. It had very few miles on it, I thought it was only a year or two old when I first looked at it. From what I understand, when the x-roll came out it was quite an improvement over the older slider bearing system. I was looking for a single phase saw, but I bought this one anyway as it was local and I had been looking for a while with no luck.

Here are the slider nuts, while they do not have the awesome look that can be achieved with machining, they are more than fine for intended purpose and look a whole lot better than what felder sent me for the xcut fence. These were shaped with grinder and sanded with RO90 60, 100 & 180 grits. Higher finish is possible, I just did not spend the time. Also attached is a Big Squeeze housing that I just sanded with a block of wood (cannot find my sanding block) in straight line motion. I took it to 500 grit using Platin. If you want perfection see attached pdf. Ignore comment of 100 sanding discs as there were bunch of housings. There are experts here and I am a novice for metal working. Just thought I share if it helps anyone embark on something new. Imran |

Re: Bandsaw tires FB510
So the tires showed up today. Quick trip from Austria. I looked at the video showing the ratchet. interesting idea but I do not think that will work for me. according to Felder I am supposed to spread a thin layer of? adhesive onto the tire and wheel then install the tire. I did not think that would work with contact adhesive. So i researched the 3M adhesive and you can use it in a "wet bond" application. essentially you don't let it completely dry like a standard contact adhesive.?
? ? So working quickly I spread the adhesive and while still slightly wet installed the tires. It was a bit challenging but I was still able to adjust positioning of the tire before it was dry. Only time will tell if this solution solves the problem. Mark |
