Re: kip lever question

thanks Brian. i saw these cam action levers but they do not ratchet, which is not necessary. you think they would be strong enough for pneumatic clamps?

thanks Jerry. good to know. currently i have to remove the kip lever to lift my homemade clamp off slider - your suggestion should speed it up. issue is that i made the slider nut too long and it does not come out due to slider handle being in the way. i may just notch the handle wall to be done.

going from using clamps on KF700 w/o outrigger to K975 with outrigger is a diff experience. primarily due to the short xcut fence fixed tnut and inability to slide the clamp off because handle is in the way.

David, do you have the outrigger cart? It makes? removal a 30 second procedure.

For me — having no experience — I’d think you’d just move the sliding table along so that the outrigger is not in the way. Or if it is a sliding table locking thing, I’d just slide the outrigger along the p-channel, and out of the way.

What am I missing?

When SW posted his question I was happy to anticipate riding on his coattails for some good ideas. Your reply has exceeded my hopes. IMHO, you could contribute significantly to the next rev of the Blickpunkt Werkstatt. I and the rest of the FOG regulars are indebted to you for your so many insightful contributions, and the generous sets of photos are never TMI for me.

Ideas I found to be especially useful included: the holes beneath the shaper cutter edges to assist in picking them up; laying the magnetic bars down on the drawer bottoms to keep chisels in place (mine are wall- mounted, with space filling up too quickly and the end- rings on my Japanese chisels falling off when they loosen as the wood shrinks in Colorado’s dry air); and, the graduated wall height on the scrap storage bin (I am too often searching for shorter pieces amongst the taller ones – such a simple and practical idea to graduate the height.)?

Lastly, one humble suggestion to make, a warning sticker on the booze cabinet: DANGER: For Use Only at Day’s End??

Thanks again so much for this.

Re: Installing gas screw on big lift

I have attached the bracket drawing that I created. It is based upon the original but uses 3/8" steel plate instead of the 1/2" AL. One I have had installed on KF700 was made with 1/2" AL plate but the threads, for the ball stud, on mine have been compromised over the yrs. I believe if the threaded post of ball stud was longer to allow the nut to fully engage it would help the life of threads in AL. So, if I were to go with 1/2" AL then I would recommend 9512K19 ball stud as it has 1" threaded post vs 3/4" for the one below (which is fine for 3/8" thick plate). It may however require you to cut it short if it interferes with the tilt bracket.

Here is the parts list. Some are bulk items but you can buy them in low qtys locally. Flat head screw (91253A542) is probably most critical as it has a low profile head. Also, Jeff opted for 125# gas spring but I believe most have used the 250# given below. So just something to be aware of.

hi charles,

the drawing for the custom bracket is in files section. the remaining parts are available from mcmaster carr. i can send you the parts list if you are interested. i had some brackets made but i am out of them now. if at least 4 people want them i may be able to coax the local metal worker to make another set.

Wow that’s a lot of big machinery in a tight space. Well done!

Re: outrigger for KF700S

I recently ordered a KF700S. I was considering a 2800 slider, ended up with a 3200 slider with 1500 outrigger. I did not explicitly ask about the 1300 outrigger, but I had the impression that it was an option. Your salesperson should be able to give you a definitive answer.?

Re: Attaching Aigner Pressure Module to Xroll P profile

thank you all for the feedback back in June. i needed to use pressure module on K975 few days ago and realized i never acted on the inability to mount aigner pressure module on xroll. i decided to order the p channel mount that was posted by Chris. you can almost read the PN in the pic he posted but just to make it easy here it is again:

still $50 and change plus shipping.
