I was concerned when you mentioned the AD751 because those are certainly not worth $7400. ?I think Felder discontinues the AD751 in the early 2000s and I think they had some problems. ?

Maybe other have a better idea if a newish AD741 is worth $7400.

Re: AD 741

well, when I bought my AD741 with power drive and silent power at woodworking show in Toronto in Nov 2015, it was about CAD 10K plus tax. Factored into the exchange rate at the time (1 USD = 1.3375 CAD), it was US$ 7476.

I noticed the price of AD741 has gone up cause someone mentioned AD741 with power drive and silent power cutterhead was about $9300 last Dec, but AD941 with power drive, silent power drive and comfort guide was 10955 at Felder 60 years anniversary special pricing, so AD941 was absolutely a good deal.

Silent power cutterhead is really awesome, and quiet!

Re: New C3-41 owner

My 1999 C3-31 had two issues. The first was that the massive cam clamp, which turned out to be real overkill for the application, moved up and down on a round post that was also the used by the miter gauge quadrant as it's pivot. The effect of clamping stock with the cam clamp was similar to rapping the miter quadrant with a mallet- it always knocked it a few degrees one way or the other. And because in a threaded connection the first threads take more of the load the force? of the cam levered up against the top forward thread and stripped it, followed by the next thread etc. until the top 6 threads or so were gone on the forward side so the post and miter gauge could rattle around as they liked.

?Far the worst design I've seen, I replaced it with an Osborne EB-3 ?

?

For the rip fence I used a NOS Delta unifence, no longer made. An issue is that when you want to thickness plane you start by flipping the rear joiner table up and it supports the fence rail which is cantilevered from the joiner table to the saw blade, so the fence rail is beyond vertical when planing. Whatever system you pick will likely have to be front rail only and wants a stout rail.

A discussion of various fence options for the Hammer B3 is here:

http://tinyurl.com/zwnfdxz?

and?

http://tinyurl.com/65y698r

And an installation sequence for the unifence on a B3 is here:

http://tinyurl.com/hybp2al

I like the unifence and it hasn't disappointed me yet. Perhaps this information will get you started and if you need more just ask.

You may clarify if this 90 deg you cannot achieve is in the direction the spindle travels or you are talking about the other direction, that is inline with material feed.

I have a diff Felder machine but achieving 90 in the direction of spindle travel is done by a set screw. If the screw is already bottomed out than you may need a screw with shorter head. You may also have dust preventing the last bit of travel.

If you are talking about not achieving 90 in the material feed direction, that is more complicated. I can only hazard a guess that the entire spindle assembly would need to be shimmed against the base machine. I have never looked at this adjustment on my machine, so not sure if it is even possible.

Yes the stop collar is?on the horizontal screw that tilts the spindle.

Thank you for the help.? I am talking about the spindle being square to the table.?

Where is the stop collar?

Is the the stop collar on the horizontal screw that tilts the spindle?? Should I move the spindle up/down or over towards 45 to get access?

Re: Adjust shaper spindle to 90 on C3-41

Check for saw dust on the lead screw stop collar or adjust it.

Re: Adjusting jointer tables on a C3-31 (2015 Model)

I 100% agree Felder sevice techs are more than disappointing. Regardless if the machine is new i would hold them to it.

Play hard ball, be amicable but stern if you are rud or an ass they will ignore you. If you are a oushover they will take it and run with it. Ask for Ruan the CEO and if you really have a case hold explain it to him and he will have it taken care of.

I had a problem with a brand new machine a couple years ago. It took about four months p, six visits of a Felder tech and about 40-50 actual man hours to get my machine what i thought was cutting right.?

This was my furst jointer so i did not know what i did not know. Now very familur with the machine i have come to understad the cast of my tables have dips or hollows in a coulpe key places. This means when edge jointing there are certain areas of the tables i cant use.

There is no way the techs whom serviced my machine did not figure this out in the 40-50 plus hours the messed around with my machine. They never told me of the problem?though and in the end being they knew i had not caught on buried the problem.?

Really crappy buisness if you ask me. Dont let them do the same to you. Had it not taken a crane to gett he machine into my shop i would had returned it after the 3rd or 4th tech visit.

Sorry to hear of your problem.

Good luck

My KF700sp's right side is placed against the wall, I opted for 32 inch rip capacity to save the space.

The only thing I can see is rough sizing cut is limited because of the wall.

Hello all, I'm a soon to be new owner of a few Felder machines. KF700SP , FB510 and AD741. I've been woodworking about 20 years but have no experience with Euro machines. I have a question about the KF700SP. Is there any issues placing the right side of the saw directly up against a wall? I looks to be like there is nothing over there I would need to get to. With my old cabinet saw that's how I had it set up and it worked out great for maximizing shop space. I'm hoping I can set this up the same way. Any advice from you experienced users would be welcome.
