Re: Extension Table
Mac, I completely agree with you. I should have asked the sales guy to throw in the cast iron extension table. I was mislead and thought the aluminum extension table could be used on the KF700. Besides, I could get it at 30% off accessory at the time of machine purchase. Oh well, lesson learned. So anyone buys a Saw/shaper machine in the future, must get the narrow cast iron extension table. James On Mon, Dec 5, 2016 at 8:36 PM mac campshure mac512002@... I find it utterly amazing that you purchased a machine and an extension table at a minimum ?6x20"cast table was not part of your purchased. ?The table ends abruptly in less than a foot from spindle center line. I observed the same thing, extension table is 100% needed on the KF 700. I need to order one too. I think it is F-channel extension table. I have the wide aluminum F-channel extension table, I use it on planer and bandsaw, but too wide, can't use it on the outfeed end of the KF. James

Re: Extension Table
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI have the 18 cast iron extension on a KF700S and it fits nicely between the sliding table and the power feeder shaper tilt bracket.? ? You are correct about the workpiece needing support as it exits the 700¡¯s cast iron table.? Seems you mentioned the Aigner shaper fence previously (maybe my memory is bad).? I have that option and before I bought the extension table, I had made a cut where the safety fingers of the Aigner were engaged to cover the unmachined portion of the wood.? Without disengaging them, I foolishly loosened the shaper hood from the 700¡¯s cast table to move it back and the unsupported side of the Aigner fence tilted downward badly bending 4 of the engaged safety fingers; one I was able to straighten. 3 were an expensive repair purchase from Aigner ?(just glad they were available at any price). ? I opted for the Aigner tables over the Felder. They are very?nice although mine arrived with a couple lumps or blemishes in them. Almost like where the?brackets for the legs got welded to the tables bottom?it caused the?aluminum to?deform. Its kinda?a bummer but they are really really nice otherwise. The F style bracket is what you want to mount either the Felder or Aigner tables. The Felder ones are on sale at the moment. Even on sale they are more expnsive than the Aigner and imop the Aigner are nicer. Call Felder in Delaware and ask for Geoff Dubet in sales. He is a great guy and will get you exactly what you need for your exact machine.. ? On Monday, December 5, 2016, Brian Lamb blamb11@... [felder-woodworking] <felder-woodworking@...> wrote:

Re: See the new dust collector?
So I decided to be the guinea pig on this machine. My 1100 CFM Jet is barely adequate as it is, even with the?cyclone pre separator/trash can lid, so it was time for an upgrade. And in my small shop the horizontal configuration will work much better and allow room for desperately needed storage.
I didn't realize that Woodcraft is also distributing the Gyro Air. Total price at Woodcraft is $4,334 including CA tax (and free shipping). However, I found a pretty awesome Woodcraft coupon that gives 10% off on everything, so my all-in price was $3,900 exactly. The coupon code is WELCOME, and probably only works if you check out as a guest (it seems to be intended for new customers). I'll let you know how it goes. /afb |

Re: See the new dust collector?
Again, the percentage efficiency doesn't say much without knowing the input particle size distribution. ? OSHA rules cites some scientific work on real-world duct production, and I've excerpted ("fair use" I hope) a particle size distribution chart from a study of sanders: http://tinyurl.com/glamha7 I suspect in saw operations that nearly 99.9% of particles are >1 micron. ?If true, then a system like Gyro with claimed 99.9% pre-filtration separation efficiency and 5 micron filters could in fact be allowing 100% of the sub-micron particles to pass through it and still be meeting specs. ? Obviously I am not claiming that is the case with Gyro, I am only pointing out that the stated performance measures cannot by themselves tell you what's actually getting though.? I would however say that Gyro's claim that their technology is 300x more effective than cyclones at centrifugal separation seems like an extraordinary claim, and as Carl Sagan famously said,?extraordinary claims require?extraordinary evidence. |

Re: New C3-41 owner
The Unifence has been out of production for quite some time and can be
very hard to find. What you need to find is a fence system, like the
Unifence or perhaps the 'VerySuperCool Table Saw Fence' suggested
upthread, although there may be an issue with that solution. You need a
strong front mounted guide rail and a fence where the 'T' square does
not have the left leg of the 'T' so long it interferes with the sliding
table.
The Unifence isn't able to move left far enough to use the fence in the tall configuration, I don't know how the VSC fence would work. Brian(J) |
