Re: Felder FB610 Fence Support problems
I don't know what the casting looks like that mounts to the F-channel and holds the fence, but maybe drill and tap for a jackscrew/setscrew on the low side and jack it up to obtain square with the fence. My F-channel cast iron extensions that I use on the J/P have set screws already built into the system to adjust height and pitch. Brian Lamb blamb11@... lambtoolworks.com

I had the same thing happen on my N4400 but it wasn¡¯t as bad. ?I ended up shimming by placing some painter tape on the lower milled surfaces where the fence contacts the knuckle. ?

Before anyone suggests I adjust this out by changing position of the flat bar - that didn¡¯t work and it causes the fence to ramp up and down (hitting the table) as it moves to and from the blade. That also makes the fence unstable unless you adjust the nylon screws every time you move the fence. ?I¡¯m sure that¡¯s not what the designers of the bandsaw intended. ?

I contend that when the flat bar is perfectly parallel to the table, and the knuckle is properly seated to the flat bar, the fence when tightened should be 90 degrees to the table.
?
Is anyone else experiencing this? Since the replacement knuckle exhibits the same problem I¡¯m guessing this is a systemic problem at the milling station at the factory (especially since the opposite sides of the knuckle (L/R) appear to be co-planar).

We shouldn¡¯t¡¯ have to shim the fence on a $6K bandsaw (or any Hammer/Felder bandsaw). ?It should be dead nuts square from the factory.?

Re: Christmas in November
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýDid Felder give you any pre-sales indication that the PCS system would only work with Felder blades? ?I have seen no such indication published, nor have I heard this from other PCS users. ?It wouldn¡¯t surprise me to discover that your PCS is not set up properly and the technician didn¡¯t know what he was doing on this aspect of the commissioning. ?So before you go searching for Felder branded blades, I recommend you drive this up the chain at Felder for definitive response about the PCS blade type requirements. ? Re: Christmas in November
The saw is up and running.
?
The tech had some issues getting the blade brake and the PCS system to work, which was eventually traced to which leg of the three-phase current from my Phase Perfect connected to which input to the saw. It took him quite a bit longer than he had planned.
?
Apparently the PCS is very sensitive to the conductivity of the saw blades. The system checks rejected a Tenryu blade. I have one Felder blade that works with the PCS, but it is a 400mm rough cut blade and the PCS does not like that if it is set low. I¡¯ll have to get a couple of additional Felder 350mm blades.
?
Unfortunately none of the Felder blades except the rough cut blades will cut a flat-bottom slot. I will probably keep using my Amana blade that I had re-ground to cut a flat bottom, even though it may not work with the PCS.
?
This saw is quite a bit heavier than the K700S. Sheet metal parts, anyway, are heavier and so is the overarm blade guard.

Re: Is the cross cut fence profile the same on Felder K700 and Hammer K3?
Thanks everyone! Brian, quite a few useful items in your printable collection, and thanks for sharing the zero clearance insert I was looking for to fit the K3.

Re: Is the cross cut fence profile the same on Felder K700 and Hammer K3?
The Hammer k3 and Felder extrusions are not the same. The hammer k3 unit is much less stout and requires a completely different zero clearance. There is a maker on Etsy that may help. He is also active on this?forum. He made me one, but I have yet to check its fitment.? Hope this helps. Not the same unless they recently have changed the fences. The K700 fence measures 72mm x 70mm. Brian Lamb blamb11@... lambtoolworks.com

Eyeballing it, they appear similar, but always hard to know for sure.? I want to 3D print a part that fits in the K700 fence extrusion¡ªa zero clearance insert. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5342446 I own a K3. Not sure if compatible, and it's never easy tryna track down this kind of information on the internet! Thanks! |

Re: Profil 45Z commission and setup
Thanks.
The Felder adapter isn't that good, It is 120mm ID, so I would need a short section of hose to connect it to the Aigner port. (doable but ugly) I do have a 3D printer and I thought to print one myself. The mcmaster hose is expensive... $300 for 3m hose is a lot, the $75 from Felder sounds a lot better :) I think I'll just get one from Felder. I already have my dust collector port next to the machine set for 80mm. |
Re: Profil 45Z commission and setup

Or ask fellow FOG member Bill Belanger to print you one. He has a shop on Etsy: https://www.etsy.com/shop/arizonawoodstudio/?etsrc=sdt

Re: Profil 45Z commission and setup
Yahoo, free parts.
?
Do you have any recommendations on a reducer from 140mm to 120mm so I can put on the aigner bowmoulder?
3D printer part would be the best.
?
Also a place to buy a 80mm hose.
I bought one from Felder but I only bought 2m instead of 3m and I don¡¯t want to wait until
Felder will fulfils this order. It took them 3 weeks to ship me the current hose. |
Re: Profil 45Z commission and setup
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI could be wrong, but I believe those parts are related to the tenoning hood assembly. ?Actually, they look like they are for the?. ?But they could also be parts for the?. ?Lucky you - free parts! ?David Best

Re: Anyone know the function of these screws on old Hammer A3 41?
I had used the same machine for many years.
It¡¯s a good machine for its class.
?
The ¡°owners manual¡± is simply an exploded parts list diagram. No words whatsoever on how the machine functions.
?
Bryce is correct; the knob on the underside adjusts the outfeed table height. The two knobs on the side lock the tables in place.
?
A word of warning; My machine was single phase 220V. if you attempt to remove too much material in one thicknessing pass, you will blow the starter capacitor that helps start the motor.?
?
I learned to keep a couple of extras handy to keep the machine running, though this happened very infrequently. When I ordered replacements from Felder, the tech said it happens from time to time on that machine.
