A couple more points:
The tech had some issues getting the blade brake and the PCS system to work, which was eventually traced to which leg of the three-phase current from my Phase Perfect connected to which input to the saw. It took him quite a bit longer than he had planned.
This sounds suspicions to me. ?The PP has balanced outputs, and while it¡¯s always a good idea to ensure the 3rd (manufactured) leg is not part of the circuitry used to power the digital electronics, one of the main reasons to buy a PP in the first place is to now have to worry about that. ?I suppose it¡¯s possible that the PP 3rd leg has some kind of electronic noise or harmonic that makes it incompatible with the Felder PCS sensor system, but I¡¯d take that issue up with the team at PP for feedback and clarification. ?
?I¡¯ll have to get a couple of additional Felder 350mm blades.
I suggest you first confirm the maximum size blade that will still lower below the surface of the cast iron top. ?Although the Kappa 400 advertises 350mm capacity without having to remove the scoring saw, a 350mm blade will not fully retract below the surface of the cast iron top. ?I have yet to see an updated table of blade size limitations since the Kappa 450 was introduced. ?If you find such a table, I¡¯d love to see it posted here.
Has Felder made any pronouncements about the compatibility of the PCS system with dado cutters - Felder-branded or otherwise? Dado cutter use is one area where the PCS would seem to me to be really desirable - it¡¯s by far the most dangerous operation to perform IMO.
