Re: What is the best dust extractor for portable tools?
I have a Flex that looks like what Dan shared. I used festool in shop and flex stays in the house. Have had it for several years with no issues. I actually find the hose storage on Flex easy compared to Festool and the electrical? cord holding by a bungee is a simple method and easy to use.

Re: What is the best dust extractor for portable tools?
Well,
?
I knew I was asking the correct people.
?
I noticed the wheels did not seem to roll correctly..
?
So I pulled them off.
?
?
Both sides were cracked at the same spot.? I put some duct tape on the back and the suction is MEGA.? I guess the previous owner dropped it?? There were signs of diagnosis (two new hepa filters and a new set of 5 bags).? But with the wheels on, you can't see the gap.
?
I will get some 5 min epoxy to make it permanent!
?
Thanks so much Lucky and Imran!

So I like the idea of the Festool cart that attaches to the CT26 and CT36 (or CT22 and CT33).? So I decided to look around for a used extractor.? I found a CT 33, got it home and fond that the suction is worse than my CT Midi (It has a new bag and new
filters too).? So I did some diagnosing on google and decided to take it apart to see if the brushes were worn or the turbine was worn out...? It all looks fine, so what to do.? I guess see if it works as good as the Midi and live with it?
?
So while thinking about it, I was ready to just get something new and better (If that exists)
?
These are my perceived options (I am taking the shop vacs out for noise issues)
?
- Festool CT26/36 (Sanding station is optional)
- Surfprep POV-8? (no sanding station)
- Uneeda Ekasand series 2 (Sanding station option)
- 3m Extract ?(no sanding station)
- Fein turbo II ?(no sanding station)
?
I am sure there are others,? What say you all?? I would love your opinions.

Re: What is the best dust extractor for portable tools?
I second David K. experience with brittle plastic with age of Festool Vac. I sometimes grab the vac to get it over something from the top section. I have broken small protrusions around the caddy on top in multiple places.

The Festools use plastic that becomes brittle over time. Very unfortunate. A small crack might explain the lower suction you¡¯re experiencing. ??

I have no experience with the product, but Mirka could be one of the brands you may want to look into as well.

I also like my CT36 a lot and? probably would recommend it as well. It truly sucks...

Not sure what is wrong with the CT33, but from the spec they should be really close to the CT Midi in respect to performance.
CT midi - 130 cfm at 96¡± static water lift
CT33 - 134 cfm at 90¡± static water lift
maybe it worth sending the unit to Festool for repair.
I am not familiar with the other dust extractor, but I am really happy with the festool one.? Especially when I have additional festool tools. The ecosystem works really nice (like pairing Bluetooth devices to the DE)

Re: Felder Shaper Fence - Readout / Eepeatability
Tom, thanks for the tip on ordering the T130 w/mm scale. I'll be ordering one with the side-mounted tenoning carriage at the end of the year and my quote specifies North American scales. I'm glad I saw your post because I've finally trained my brain to convert mm/inches. Having to convert decimals to fractions would have put me over the edge!

Hi there!

I have the AD951 machine, 2020 model and have trouble keeping jointer accurate.
?
I can tune the machine to make flat faces, come back to it the next day and have it produce either snipe (outfeed table too low) or taper (outfeed table too high). Honestly I have no idea what to try, adjusting it basically became a daily chore, which wastes time and material needed to tune it.
?
Any ideas what could be the cause and how to fix it?

Best regards,
