Re: Lucky's Latest 'Technique' article in Australian Wood Review #format4

David,

I now recall seeing these but you have to agree what lucky showed is very simple. Although, I see that one might need two of them. For wide rips the first magnet will end up on the slider. So either a 2nd jig or a 2 part lockable sliding end to extend the reach would be clever.

Re: T-nut for the sliding table

Two weeks ago, I would have bought these for my Kreg clamps. In the meantime, I made some from a piece of 170-year-old oak and Tee nuts. The only problem I had was the oak was too hard for the tee nuts, causing them to deform. I had to pre-drill holes for the spurs. Hopefully, these will work for another 170 years.

I've been known to do the same. Or I buy something I think I want or need only to discover I don't really. Or like my recent Oliver bandsaw restoration, I take it 90% of the way and come to an obstacle I don't know how to overcome and just move on. I don't need any new projects now, plenty of paying work that has to get done plus guitar building in my "free time" lol.

Bill,

I am surprised that you were able to fit a clamp and a 2” knob in the length of Felder Tnut. From memory it can be more than 2.5” long.

The felder T nut does not come with anything but the T nut.

Jason,

Frankly, I just wanted to see one and took a chance on an auction. I am most surprised at the heft. Being AL I did not expect it to be as heavy as it is.

I figured, if I can sell it great if not that is fine. I hate to admit but I enjoy trading. I did not know that it will even work (too far to go to check) but after a thorough cleanup, I was happy to see it in action.

As I mentioned before, the automaxx clamp pulls the stock a bit when clamping it. As long as you have the plywood block placed against the stock being clamped, the stock will not move at all.

The short one is 70mm long, the long one is 120mm. All have 5/16"-18 thread.

I can offer it ($25 for short one, $40 for long one, plus shipping), I am in Ontario, Canada. I can get the shipping quote from Canada Post or your choice of carrier like Fedex and UPS. I heard the shipping cost from Canada Post is cheaper than Fedex and UPS here.

If you are interested, send me a private email.

Re: 24” Panel Crafter Model 609

Thanks Cliff for mentioning the video. Lab coat, funny. But more importantly, they mentioned the part, brake, which should slide over this - see arrow:

It is missing. So for clarity, I have checked the panel centering function, pneumatic clamps and the valve that controls floatation. Floatation can be turned off and progressively increased. That is the extent of my checking.

So anyone interested please make sure of everything. It is being offered as is.

Hi PK:

Thank you very much. I’ve enjoyed working on the two articles (calibrating and using) and tried to distill all the “goodies” for newbies that we talk about all the time here on the FOG but the wider users of sliders don’t know.

David Best was instrumental in his help in condensing the material, making the prose understandable, photo selection, etc. Thanks David!

And it made sense to single out Brian’s and Mac’s products specifically (Brian’s parallel fence is even heroed in the main photo). We have no local makers making what they make so it was easy to push Aussies in their direction! But damn the duty and taxes! LOL

Warm regards,
Lucky
