I have seen a rather in depth install on an older model on youtube, I think he mentions price and where he got the cutterhead from:
Good luck with the install! What year is your AD 741? -Ameer |

Whelp, that did not disappoint. Fantastic entry door! I perused the site for a minute and those are some awesome doors. The glass is definitely a nice touch, i remember watching a short youtube video of a door company in california, and they had an awesome glass fabricator too. The one panel they did looked like a watercolor painting, it was sweet. didnt hurt that the shop had a bunch of martin equipment to stare at during the build process.? How is the door business? Thats the one facet of the craft where i think i would focus if i had to make a living at it.? On Wed, Mar 3, 2021 at 4:04 PM Shawn Kammerer via <shawnkammerer=[email protected]> wrote:

Patrick, here are a couple screenshots from my website of Greg's door. The glass is by Ted Ellison, and his work is stellar.? -Shawn

What its worth will depend on factors like,?
what year it was built
what length of sliding table 900 or 1200mm?
Whether the sliding table was anodised and what condition it is in.
Whether it has the s coupling or the F coupling on the table edges
I've seen one BF6-26 single phase? on Ebay in the last 10 years I believe it went for over ?3,500 may be even ?4K+
There was also a BF6-31 1Ph a few years ago that went for similar money.
Personally I would never part with mine even when I had to put it into storage due to lack of space?
but if you are going to part with it consider splitting off some of the accessories and selling them separately.
Things that are no longer available like:
The high speed router spindle?
Spindle shafts for the single vee belt
S coupling extension tables?
Outrigger table swing arm and long cross cut fence
.
Could all go for quite good amounts as there are a lot of second and third generation owners who call the UK sales office for bits that they cannot supply.
You need to leave all the original kit on the machine itself but the extras could be worth quiet a bit.
Ultimately it will depend on the day if there is some one willing to pay the asking price or if you can create a bidding war.
regards?
Paul

No, not much torque at all.? ?A quick? twist breaks them free easily.? I'm not very strong, so can assure you it's very simple.? You will, of course, have to disconnect, move the hose, and reconnect when you go from jointer to planer.? It takes literally another 10 seconds and would probably be even quicker if I converted the machines from one mode to the other more often.? Dave at Magport has been very helpful in determining exactly what's needed--I've seen youtube videos of how to make your own--by the time I bought good rare earth magnets, it isn't much of a cost savings, and his look slicker.? Good luck.? Jeff On Wed, Mar 3, 2021 at 2:14 PM <speedrrracer@...> wrote: Thanks, Jeff -- those magports seem slick. ? I'd only need 2 for the C341, 1 for the hose and 1 for the bandsaw wye connector, so not the level of sticker shock that I might otherwise experience if I had a large number of machines.? Do they require a lot of torque to break free, or is there a trick to separating the powerful magnets without expending a lot of effort? |

Hi Shawn! Yes, it is I. Thanks for the nice compliment, but to the contrary the real work of art in our house is our front door. To this day, when we open it, we often see whoever is standing there staring at it in admiration. You, together with Ted Ellison who did the stained glass made that happen. Thank you!

Hello all... been a long time since I've been here.... good to see it's all still going on
I have an AD 741 with the power drive and the straight blades cutter head I'd like to convert it to the Byrd Shelix cutter head, which seems to be possible However I am not a competent enough mechanic to do that... So I am wondering if there is such a person in my area who would be willing to do that conversion for pay??? I live in the San Francisco Bay Area, a little to the North side, namely in Petaluma [close to Santa Rosa on the maps] IF you are that person or know of anyone I could contact, PLEASE give me a shout by email at: hopi@... thanks much |

Tom, those links are great, thanks so much.? My bandsaw is very similar (PM1500) and has 2 4" ports as well.? I hope you don't mind if I ask you a follow-up question.? So I attach that Felder quick connector to the end of my 5" hose, and then the other end of the Felder quick connector fits easily over the ports on the C341.? Perfect.??? Getting greedy, I'm wondering if that same solution will stretch to the bandsaw, or if I'd need something further.? Does that quick connector then fit into or over the 5" side of the Oneida reducer you mention, or is there an adapter to enable it to mate directly to that reducer?? My thinking is that if I use a hose clamp to attach the quick connector to my hose, it would be annoying to have to undo the hose clamp and remove the quick connector just so I can switch the dust collection over to the bandsaw, then re-do it all going back to the C341.? |
Re: C3-41 dust collection

I use a 5" magport connected to a very short (4-6") length of 5" flex hose.? 120mm = 4? 3/4" approximately--a hose clamp snugs the flex hose to the machine's dust port nicely. On Wed, Mar 3, 2021 at 11:17 AM <speedrrracer@...> wrote: Hi All |

Hi Ed!?
I too have a Oneida Mini-Gorilla (cast resin version, ~4 years old), it's sufficient as a dedicated collector for all of my machinery but I'm growing weary of shuttling the hose from machine to machine, working on sorting out whether I'll be better served with a RL140 or 160 longer term.? Back to your setup, the Felder item # 02.1.020 is what you'll want for connecting your 5" flex hose to your 120mm ports. I have mine clamped to the inside of the 5" flex hose, and the fitting fits over the outside of the 120mm Felder ports. Easy on/off. ?? For my Laguna LT14SUV, I have the two 4" ports connecting to a Y at the base of the machine, which I connect to my 5" flex hose with the following 5"-to-4" reducer from Oneida:?? C3-41 dust collection
#dustcollection
Hi All
I have an Oneida Mini-Gorilla with a that will be doing the dust collecting from my C3-41.?? If I'm reading my owner's manual correctly, the C3-41 has 2 ports where I'll need to connect it, they are 120mm OD.? I'm hoping many of you have been down this road and already solved this problem -- what are some good solutions for quick and easy changeovers between the ports?? Is there some connector that I can use to terminate the hose which will then attach securely to the 2 ports on the C3-41 yet detach quickly for easy switching?? Is there something I should attach to the 120mm ports on the C3-41 instead to mate with the 5" hose? Bonus points if the solution can also enable an easy attach/detach with the 5" OD wye connector which collects dust from my bandsaw's 2 ports. Thanks for any recommendations! Ed |
Re: Used BF 6-31
#whatmachinetobuy
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýBuying a BF6 would never be a bad idea, they are plain good old fashioned engineering solidly built. Parts from Felder aren't cheap and not everything is still available
That being said I have spent the last couple of months of lockdown doing a nut and bolt overhaul of my well used BF6-26 and apart from bearings and belts have not had to replace any major parts. If you have the choice a later machine with the f coupling (square) rather than the S coupling (dovetail) on the table edges will give you a better selection of accessories particularly extension tables, but its not impossible to re-machine stock aluminium tables if you know a good engineer. If you buy a 6-41 with a long table try and get one with the swing arm and outrigger as these are no longer available and don't come up second hand more than once a millennium.
