Re: Tripping breaker. K700s
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHi Paul,I don¡¯t see how a blade change can result in tripping the breaker in the main electrical panel. May be just a coincidence. To start, I would measure the current to determine if you have a short in machine or the breaker is going bad. Re: Felder Diamond Blade - saw marks
I have the Felder blade and 2.0 riving knife. As for saw marks Felder has a setup guide and it allows for returns of any blades that cause excessive saw marks.? Mine is really smooth. Almost zero marks in Mdf and sheet goods, I do occasionally see some marking on hard maple or other tough hardwoods but it¡¯s definitely better than my previous blades.? Re: Felder Diamond Blade - saw marks
Hello,
I have the Felder branded version. My experience so far has been the same as yours ¡ª I love how quiet it is, but it leaves saw marks on almost every cut. It was the first blade I used when I got my KF700, so I was initially worried that something is wrong with the saw itself. However, other blades don¡¯t exhibit anywhere near this level of marking. I¡¯ve attached some pictures with sample cuts using the diamond blade. I hope I am sending them correctly and that they¡¯ll show up. As for improving the cut quality, there is some advice in the comments section on this Youtube video:? Cuts seem to be better if the blade is raised only very little above the top of the material, and feed rate is slow. This seems to have an effect on rip cuts especially. This video was one of the factors that convinced me to try this blade, but my experience hasn¡¯t been as good as the video author¡¯s. Reviewing it again, there are some aspects to the video which I find suspicious and lead me to think it might be a paid video. Regarding AKE version vs Felder version ¡ª I noticed that the AKE branded ones are available in different sizes and kerf widths. The felder one is 300x2.4/1.8 , but Sautershop also has 303x2/1.8, 303x2.4/1.8 and 350x2.6/2.0. Which one did you get? I¡¯ve switched to the Felder silent power silver universal with 48 teeth (Art.-Nr. 03.02.30048) and am very happy with the performance. It¡¯s also nice that the kerf width is the same as my other saw blades and I don¡¯t have to recalibrate the fences or switch the riving knife. Best, Mi?elis Vindavs

Thank you for the information and the clarity. Last year,?I purchased a?Solberga drill press - 3-phase, Swiss machine, and needed to add several?3-phase?dedicated outlets. Scheduling an electrician who was comfortable with 3-phase and a small job?became a process, so I worked through it. From my PP through?receptacle terminals labeled X, Y, Z; to the European wire coloring scheme: easy if?you know this stuff.?Also adding to the intrigue,?the?Solberga arrived without an electrical diagram. I¡¯m thinking that it would take just a modicum of?effort to standardize nomenclature, wire color meaning & usage, and plug configurations. It¡¯s not a good idea to get the electric wrong with the sensitive electronics common in todays machinery. That said,?Thanks, again. Mike D. On Thursday, July 25, 2024, 21:39, David P. Felder Diamond Blade - saw marks
hey guys,
Quick question to those who have used the Felder Diamond blade.?
?
I recently obtained the AKE diamond SuperSilent 3 Universal from SauterShop.? I believe the Felder diamond blade is just a rebranded version of the the AKE blade. FYI, this saves about $125 compared to buying directly from Felder.?
?
So I bought one after seeing some glowing reviews noted online/social media.?
?
First impression is that the blade is definitely more quiet.?
Worlds different than the 400mm 4mm kerf Felder blade my Kappa 450 shipped with. I love that aspect of this blade.?
?
With that being said, I am definitely getting some noticeable saw marks on various cuts. Not quite a glassy smooth as I was hoping for.
I've seen this has been noted by others on various posts here on the forums. Mostly noticeable on hardwoods, maple, etc.?
?
To others who have this blade, or have used it, any pointers to help reduce these??
Blade height? feed speed? Blade rotational speed?? etc??
?
The riving knife I am using is a 1.9mm knife which was recommended by AKE directly and hence sold by SauterShop.
I see Felder recommends a 2.0 knife. Curious if that has any effect.?
?
?
Thanks

Re: Electrical question
My machine came with 4 wire cable. 2 black and 1 grey (besides the ground).
Felder tech told me it isn¡¯t guaranteed which cable will be connected to T3. He told me to open the electrical box and measures the resistance to find the right wire that should be connected to T3 (the manufacture leg) |
Re: Electrical question
I have three 3-phase Felder machines and they all came with 5 wire cords (no plug) with instructions that clearly stated on two of them that the ¡°neutral leg (blue wire) is for European use only.¡± One of my machines (FB 710) came with four black wires and one green. I had to open up the machine to find out what phases were what and what wire was the ¡°blue¡± neutral wire that would not be used. But, that is my equipment! |

Re: Electrical question
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýOne more suggestion. ?3-Phase wiring is typically colored Black, Red, and Blue so you might ask your electrician to use those code-standard color choices, and wire up T1 to Black, T2 to Red, and T3 to Blue. ?That way you will know for certain which terminal at your machine end has the manufactured leg. ?You will also have a ground wire which is typically green. ?Your Felder machine will not have a plug at the end of the wire, so depending on what type of plug/socket connection you are using, you can wire up the plug when the machine is delivered to conform to the method the socket has been wired. ?Felder will most certainly ask you to measure the 3-phase voltages as part of their ¡°pre-commissioning checklist¡±. ?? Re: Electrical question
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýThe PP will have connection terminals as follows:L1, L2 - these are the inputs to the PP and where you connect the 230VAC supply line from your breaker panel T1, T2, T3 - these are the output of the PP. ? T1 and T2 are passed through directly from L1 and L2 respectively. ?Depending on the options you choose with your PP order, these may or may not remain hot when the PP is turned off. T3 is the manufactured leg On a Felder sliding table saw, there will be a pigtail wire with multiple colors:

Re: Electrical question
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHi John, With PP there is really not a high (voltage) on the manufactured leg as can be expected with Rotary Phase Converters. Even though the PP is super reliable it still does not hurt to avoid connecting the manufactured leg to the electronics in the machine. If I was having this done, I would ask the electrician to label the outlet as L1, L2, T3; ground should be identified by default. Then when you hook up the machine you can ensure that L1 and L2 connect to the machine electronics and T3 only goes to the motor. I am basing this on 700 and 900 series machines (actually my Format 4 dual 51 is wired the same) and assuming that Kappa 450 is same. You can always share the machine wiring diagram with the group to be sure. BTW, you should be able to ask for a soft copy of the wiring diagram for your machine. I prefer to have the manual and electrical on my phone (and computer) and the paper copy is only referenced occasionally. I do not yet have the machine, so cannot look at the plug.
?
I will tell the electrician I do not need a neutral.
?
He has a question about a ¡°high leg¡± that I cannot answer - hopefully the user manual will give him instructions on which wire to connect where.
?
I certainly appreciate everyone who has chimed in to help me!

Re: Electrical question
In addition to what Imran wrote, Felder is generally an EU company, and the machines are expected to usually work with EU voltage.
The voltage between a phase and the natural in EU is 230V. so if there is a component that needs a 230V, in the US it will be connected between to 2 phases. Having said that, you might want at some point to connect another machine (power feeder?/light?/air compressor?), so a natural natural wire for that circuit might not be a bad idea.

FWIW my 2023 10kw Format4 profil z x-motion doesn't use a neutral. I'm not sure if the same motors and electronics are shared between their shapers and saws or not. On Thu, Jul 25, 2024, 7:01?PM John Hinman via <jhinman1911=[email protected]> wrote:
