I’d take the hand wheel now knowing what power drive is all about. ?
I’m almost ready to sell off my Felder stuff. ?But I have a bad history with their equipment. ?Which just makes me lean further that way to get rid of it.?

Yeah, it’s on my planer and drives me nuts there too. ?It’s not refined enough to be easy to dial in. ?
On the table saw, trying to dial in a dado height can be a big PITA!

This comes up often. System is not w/o flaw. Give it a sharp tap. After practice, on occasion I get a 10 thou advance vs 5 thou. This on a Dual 51.

Jeff, I have received manuals from Felder for at least 2 used machines. I prefer a soft copy as it is accessible on my phone and computer. Manuals stay in a safe place but I do pull them out when calibrating where I want to see larger images.

My C3-31 came with english operator's and setup manuals, but the parts diagram legends are all in german.
The parts and circuit diagrams themselves are decent, my german is not.
I picked up a used dictionary , it helps a lot.

Little backlash should not be a problem you see a little room for the screw to turn. You’re always adjusting. your final position against the thread or up so little loose would be better than too tight. Mac,, Designing and building for 50 years

Coming back to this issue for closure... I raised the table and removed the UHMW nut (58). The nut appears to be cross-threaded for about 1/4 of its length. This would normally be difficult to do with an ACME-style thread. However, Felder ground the end of the threaded rod, probably to ease installation. This created very sharp edges on the two starting threads (it's a double-start thread). So, using the handwheel and some determination, I assume it's possible to cause the threaded rod to cut new threads. On the other hand, there's a slight chance the nut was made this way to reduce backlash, but I doubt it. To put things in perspective, I was initially unable to thread the nut on by hand.
Since my lathe isn't available at the moment, I used the rod to mark the areas where the rod and nut are tight, and a custom tool to "scrape" these initial threads. In the end, I was able to modify the nut sufficiently to thread it on by hand. It's still very tight, but it goes on, and there's absolutely no backlash. It will be a while before I can reinstall it, as I have to wait for some other parts while I have the table off (e.g., belts). However, I'm optimistic this has addressed the problem.
