On the first point,?as can be seen below, the DRO reduces travel towards the blade by less than 1/2¡± (12.7 mm) and if I duplicate the channel in the sacrificial splinter not at all.

However, in my opinion (as a rule) the DRO should be on the left of the folding stop, to allow for cutting narrower pieces. Or, even better, if you make a rotating pin to mount under the DRO to allow it to be oriented 180¡ã horizontally, if you want to keep the DRO to the right or left of the stop (mounting the entire stop upside down) and also to be able to move the second stop closer to the first stop for double cuts in series.
