The each patten on the Ekstrom Carlson is 8" x 54", thickly ribbed cast iron. The previous owner of my machine drilled and tapped a 2"x 1.5" extension on the top side enabling me to run a 10" belt if I needed to. I had the plattens Blanchard ground on the biggest machine in town (84" diameter if I recall correctly) since they are so large.?
The oscillation mechanism is like an old steam locomotive. Very cool to watch. This machine gets used for shaping parts of course, but jointing veneer is one of my favorite uses for it.??
