It looked like you were almost there with your aluminum bracket (it looks so close you could probably just epoxy it in).? Aluminum has the advantage of being easy to work.? Thinner is better for working with basic tools, I used only 1/16" aluminum angle in my install.? That was great because you can bent it slightly to get the angle adjusted if needed (casting sides are usually not square since the need to release from the mold).? I only had basic tools for my install (vise, file, drill, drill press, tap for mounting the bracket).? So just keep at it and you will get there.? It is a very nice addition to the saw.
