I have the big mouth hood on a stand like the picture..the really crappy part about these is the 4" hose has a hard time fitting on the end.? I had to buy one of those rubber connectors to go from the steel end fitting to a coupling then I could add the hose with a thumb twist strap to keep the hose on.? I use it for my stationary edge sander which hardly works for that either..

Although drill press doesn't impart the same velocity, your DC and that hood thing won't even begin to overcome the gravity acting on the chips.
