The special castle nut socket/wrench and the 2 pin wrench will be the most expensive part of the job.?

I¡¯ve been down this spindle bearing path before. ? At least in my experience, the bearings were pressed on with a slight interference fit. ?You could use a bearing heater to expand new bearings enough to go onto the spindle, but getting the old ones off required an arbor press. ? Yours may be different, but just be aware that it may not be as simple as pulling off the retaining collars.

There are two bearings in the 1 1/4" shaper spindle. I do not think you can use a grease gun to pump the grease into it, cause there is no zerk.
I think the top bearing can be removed after unscrewing the ring above it, the bottom bearing can be removed by removing the cap below it.

there should be a small hole with a ball. i cannot recall if there is one or two per bearing. IIRC, only one pump is recommended. cannot remember the frequency. if you give it more grease, it is not the end of the world. just bunch of cleaning
as it is flung out once spinning.

This is the 1 1/4" spindle on 2017 KF700.? I have no clue how to lubricate this bearing.

I never did any maintenance on my KF700 and AD741 for 3+ years.?
So I bought grease and tried to lubricate the bearings, then I found out all the bearings on shaper spindle, saw and AD741 are sealed.?
Only maintenance needed is to lubricate the height adjustment spindle for the planer table, shaper and saw blade.
It is very difficult to get access to the saw height adjustment spindle, I bought the Felder spindle fluid, spray fluid on the small portion of the spindle I can see.

Looks like lack of proper lubrication over time did them in. At least with the new setup you won't have to worry about maintenance. Like Mac stated earlier about sealed bearings, expected life span of at least 10 years with normal use.?

The main blade arbor bearings went out on my K975 and had a new, improved version put in by the Felder tech Jason.? The bearings on the new arbor shaft are a lot beefier and sealed, unlike the bearings on the original shaft, which were not sealed.? The bearing
really got burned up as you can see from the pictures.? It didn't take long really to get the old arbor out, maybe 30 minutes.? The new arbor and how it's designed will allow me to swap out the bearings much easier than the old style and I won't need a tech
to do it either, that's the beauty of the new design.? I forgot to take pictures of the new arbor, but will ask Felder to send me a few
