Re: AIGNER FLUSHFIX

The OF1010 setup works reasonable if the material is completely flat which is now rare with plywood. One little slip and you're screwed. In my situation the MFK with 1.5 degree base is still the fastest and most productive. James be careful with the Paul Marcel mod, if memory serves me right it was for a 3/4" bit. Still can't figure out the need or fascination with using a 3/4" piece of edgeing

Mark,

I have OF1010 too. The 25mm diameter bit is less than 1 mm than the opening of the MFK700 base, kind of scary. I might just use it on OF1010.

Wow, an $1800 tool they sell for $3240 just because it is discontinued by Lamello.

It was CAD $1850 in 2016. It was actually cheaper buying Cantex in Canada than states (US$ 1800) back then.? I almost pulled the trigger.

Now, if I need to trim the solid wood edge banding, I use Festool OF1400 with Freud 1 1/4" dish carving bit (1/2" shank) and 1/2" MDF base based on the technique demoed in this video?, I get the perfect result, the only downside is QF1400 is too big.

I also have MKF 700, bought a 25 mm diameter router bit with 8mm shank a month ago, will try it.

Paul Marcel modified the horizontal base to extend the capacity of MFK700, so he could use a longer bit for trimming edge banding.?

If Festool makes a lipping planer like Lamello Cantex and sells it at a reasonable price, I will probably buy it :)

David,

I assume you do not have MFK700, supposedly the go to tool for flush trimming. I have one but have not used it yet. One of those good deal buy.

Seems like the workpiece would have to be perfectly flat for this to work. Since edging is commonly applied to plywood, I am suspect of it¡¯s effectiveness consistently.

Does anybody have one of these? Any comments? Useful? Lipping planer easier to use?
