According to my copy of the MPC, the Gusset fits everything except the convertible and the Extension fits everything except the convertible and the Talladega.

Steve, it's good to hear things are slowly coming along on your restoration.

Would those parts fit all the other Fairlane/Torino body styles besides the convertibles? Or are there some others that these won't fit in addition to the convertibles?

Steve,

Thank you for the update and pics. I too was thinking the same as you were and expecting a "drop-in" replacement, not a "some assembly required" sub structures/pieces puzzle prior to "dropping-in". And yes I know most replacement panels aren't 100% "drop-in" and are likely going to need fitment which can include cutting/grinding as needed before welding in place.

Was that $600 total for both sides or was it $600 each side? IF $600 total, that isn't to bad, not great but not all that bad either. I wasn't really too sure what to expect on price, and now to find out "some pre-assembly assembly required" is still needed, I don't know, maybe a touch/bit high. But as you said, you need these to return structural integrity back to the chassis.

Please keep sending us pics of the "some assembly required" in process and then as you progress to and including the final installation stages.

I currently to my knowledge don't need any. BUT would be interested in "in progress" and "final pics", price as well as what years these theoretically would/should/could fit (I am guessing at least '68 & '69 for fit/use) as well as other possible body styles/types other than the convertible these MIGHT be able to be fitted to with maybe some mods/tweeks. It is one of those things that IF price is right and have the spare funds it wouldn't hurt to have spares on hand for one of those just incase times.

Gary,

My 69 Cobra R Code Formal Roof built at the San Jose factory did indeed come
with 4 pie shaped cutouts in the hood.

Perhaps the cutout shape is factory related.

Here is what I have found and there will be a future tidbit in the Fairlaner?
Yes they were supposed to be cut out
See attached documents. However?
I have found some later model year R codes that still have the pie cut (my May 15 built Cyclone being one)
My guess is the line workers got lazy on some of the cars and let them pass.
Yes the flapper will hit the cross on an old seal.Inline image
