Question on seat brackets 9
I have a '69 convertible I'm working on, and am thinking of converting from a bench seat to bucket seats. Is this the bracket I need to buy for the inboard rear corner, or is it something else? Thanks. Steve https://www.autometaldirect.com/bucket-seat-floor-support-bracket-inboard-66-71-fairlane-68-71-torino

'69 Fairlane sheet metal, again 20
I asked quite some time ago about inner rocker availability for a convertible, and thought I'd revisit the subject. I called several suppliers, and not only are they not making the inner rocker pieces, but have no plans to do so. I finally found someone locally that will reproduce the metal for me, but have to bring him the original pieces to use as templates. Well, most of it is gone, but I've finally got all three pieces on one side out and will drop them off tomorrow. I had to weld bracing on to one because it was just the outside edge, and broken apart in several places. The shop is going to duplicate one set, then do a mirror image for the other side. I have two questions. First, if my custom made repops work out, does anyone else need any? I can ask the shop if they want to do a limited run if there is interest. Second, since I don't own a spot welder, I was thinking of using one of the new structural adhesives for putting the new pieces back in. Has anyone had any experience with them, pro's/con's, and does anyone see any reason it wouldn't work as well as spot welding? Steve

1969 Cobra for sale 5
Hi Jay, The original color is a pea soup green with a bit of metalflake in it. Not sure of official name. The current paint has pearl in it so it changes color with different light. The car had 10,000 miles on it when I got it in 1983, I put on another 10,000. The car was drag raced for a number of years and was towed to and from the strip. No, it was never tubbed for huge rear tires. It was the second owner, Steve, who raced it. I'm the 4th owner so Steve never had any reason to lie to me about what he did with the engine. He used a solid lifter cam, (which I have), but now has an unknown hydraulic cam in it. I have a NOS Ford Motor Sports hydraulic cam for it that's a bit hotter than stock. It's been bored 30 thou so I figure it's now a 433. The heads have been cc'd. I had the valve guides redone. Steve's wife told me that the connecting rods have been polished to the point where you can see yourself in them as the only way she could spend time with her husband was to polish connecting rods. It has TRW forged pistons. It's been balanced. It has the adjustable rocker arms on it. I never did get them properly adjusted. I got them from Steve. It had the standard rockers on it when I got it. It had an 8 pound flywheel on it. I put a heavier McLeod flywheel on it. It has a Lakewood Scattershield on it. It has the original 735cfm Holley carb on it. It sits on the Ford Sidewinder aluminum intake manifold, if memory serves me its a C6AE 9424/J The distributor has had the vacuum advance removed and the centrifugal weights are curved for racing. I have a replacement distributor for it. I also have way too many extra parts for it to list in this reply. Some of them are made of unobtanium. LOL Hope this answers your question. Calendar Car 6
I stopped by my local garage today to fix a slow leak in a tire of my other car. While I was waiting I flipped through the 2025 calendars of classic cars that they were giving away to customers. I was pleasantly surprised to find a '68 Torino for December 2025 (image attached). This calendar also had a '69 Cyclone for December 2024. It's nice to see our club cars getting some attention in a calendar of classic vehicles. Tony

Sorry, we were unable to deliver your message to the following address. <[email protected]>: 500: Your subscription has not yet been approved. ---------- Forwarded message ---------- Hopefully fourth time is the charm... First off, my kampenout1@... email through my mail app has been giving me trouble logging in so until I get that straightened out, I'm switching to my "business" account, gregkampen@..., now, I have been approved to join the group (I think) I can once again talk to y'all (all of you), my cherished friends, and Linc ? This is my update I tried to post earlier... Hey everybody. I'm fine. Tired of these damn hurricanes. I lost power on Tuesday (before the storm) for about an hour and a half, why? I don't know, but Entergy got us back up. Then Wednesday during the storm we had power the whole time until it was just about over which I was very grateful but at 9:15 pm, bam! That was it. Thursday I went to work, but they were out too, so I went to my younger son's house bc his and his fiance cars got water. I checked them for water in the oil and transmissions but luckily they seemed fine. He has a highlander and she has a Chrysler 200. She got water in her interior. Good thing their house is raised, or they would have had 18" inside. It's pretty miserable without power, especially with this damn humidity. And when the sun goes down, that's it. Candles, flashlights, and dead quiet except for the next door neighbor's generator roaring. We had ordered one way before hurricane ida three years ago, but it got "lost" at the fed ex distribution center and got a refund from home depot. I know, I know I need to order another one, and get an a/c window unit. I went back to work yesterday, (Friday) and everything was back to normal THERE, and everyplace else which I was very grateful for, (which is usually not the case especially after katrina) except at my house and a very few of my neighbors. We kept on calling Entergy about the outage, and the automated p.o.s. kept telling me, "we're not experiencing any outages in your area". I finally was able to talk to a human and told her we're out, and to put us on the list. After I got home Friday, Laura looked wrung out as she was home all day. We walked the dog before it got dark, and Laura said we needed more ice for the refrigerators or "ice box" as they became. Took "Bear" with us instead of leaving him alone in the dark hot house and got two bags and put them in the ice chest we brought with us. Then Laura said, "I haven't had a cup of coffee in two days." So I said, "Let's go". So we went to the Cafe du Monde out by us, and drank them in the car soaking up the cool wonderful A/C in the Linc, and got Bear a sip of water. While we were in the car, I got a call from the neighbor saying, "Entergy's outside working!" So after our coffee, we took Bear to PetSmart before they closed to soak up a little more a/c and light before we went home. When we got home the trucks were in front of my house with the spot lights shining on the pole in front of my house. All the neighbors were out. We put Bear inside and went out to see them hook up a new fuse to the transformer and Bam! The light came back on!!! We and the neighbors applauded and thanked the crew, saying, "God Bless You" and our power was restored. And get this...It was EXACTLY 48 hours later. To the minute! I DIDN'T EVEN HAVE TO RESET MY OLD CLOCKS! Seemed a lot longer though. Anyway, I hope I didn't bore you too much with the ordeal. It's a p.i.t.a. and I'm ready to move. I'm thinking about somewhere around the Smokeys, any thoughts? Speaking of thoughts, thank you all for your concern. I couldn't charge my phone, so I had to "ration" my usage. Thanks guys, love all y'all.. See you next year. Yeah, well Laura was the "ice box nazi" so I relented.I just grabbed the full pans of melted ice from her. On another note... I just saw your message. It was buried in Carl's remarks??? I'm not too confident in this new email address. I'm not even getting the emails I send to you all, so I don't know if you guys are getting this.
