Number of cohosts in Zoom
11
Hi all, Another aspect of preparing for the online OpenSpace is figuring out which hack to use so that people can move between breakout groups. The route we are looking at is making everyone cohosts. I had read on this list that there was a limit to the number of cohosts at 50 75. I was looking at Zoom support and saw a statement that there is no limit: https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/201362603-Host-and-co-host-controls-in-a-meeting The host must assign a co-host. There is no limitation on the number of co-hosts you can have in a meeting or webinar. Do you think they removed the limitation with the latest update? Does anyone know? I'm curious if anyone has experience or knows of examples of community facilitation being used to productively help local communities deal with endemic police brutality and racism, currently in the US context. This quote from today's NYTimes story on Minneapolis' city council plan to get rid of their police force was evocative:

WordCloud or other check-in/check-out ideas
13
Hi all, I¡¯m running an online Open Space using Zoom in a couple weeks and would love to create a WordCloud as a check-in and/or check-out with the group. We¡¯ll have a Google Doc for session notes. Google Docs has an add-on that generates a WordCloud but it only shows on my screen. Does anyone know of a way, with a group of 50-100, that we can create a WordCloud in real time from people¡¯s responses to a check-in question? Or, alternatively, any suggestions for a simple check-in or check-out beyond entering a few words in the chat? Thanks, Peggy P.S. The invitation is here: https://journalismthatmatters.org/journalismeducation2020/. The gathering is for journalism students and educators around the question: In the midst of upheaval, what¡¯s possible to prepare the next generation of journalists? ________________________________Peggy Holman Co-founder Journalism That Matters 15347 SE 49th Place Bellevue, WA 98006 206-948-0432 www.journalismthatmatters.org www.peggyholman.com Twitter: @peggyholman JTM Twitter: @JTMStream Enjoy the award winning Engaging Emergence: Turning Upheaval into Opportunity

Spiritual Activism Training: Prophetic Empathy & Revolutionary Love
#events
This awesome 6 week training begins TOMORROW! Monday, June 1st and ends on Monday, July 6th. (Note: some of the specifics are USA-centric yet the skills and strategies are universally applicable and policies adaptable) TIME: 4:30 ¨C 6:30 PM ¨C Pacific Daylight Time (5:30pm MDT, 6:30pm CDT, 7:30pm EDT) To register: https://tikkun.salsalabs.org/spiritualactivismtrainingjune2020/index.html?page=register WHAT WE KNOW: Membership in white supremacy groups is on the rise as are violent attacks by those who identify as white supremacists We are facing environmental catastrophes of unprecedented proportions and the potential destruction of the life-support system of our planet Refugees, immigrants, and undocumented workers are facing greater threats to their security and safety The gap between the wealthiest 1% of people and the remaining 99% continues to rise People of all ages, races, genders, ethnicities, and religions are feeling more fearful and distressed WHAT WE NEED TO DO: We have a strategy to turn the tide: build an inclusive social change movement that is warm, welcoming, and loving, and that puts forth a positive vision of the world we want HOW WE CAN DO IT: Engage in political conversations with prophetic empathy and revolutionary love Encourage social change organizations to put forth a positive vision of the world they want and visionary proposals to get there Help the Left unify identity politics (which can divide people), class issues (including a powerful analysis of capitalism), and universal values (of love, empathy, and justice) to help unite people across differences. In this six-session training by the Network of Spiritual Progressives and Tikkun magazine led by Cat Zavis, you will be in an environment in which your desire for a loving, caring, just, and sustainable world will be embraced and encouraged. You will be given the tools you need to bring that vision into the world through concrete proposals and programs that can create lasting systemic change. In this training, you will gain the following skills: How to listen to people who do not share a progressive worldview without criticism and blame How to express empathy and understanding for contrary points of view without necessarily agreeing with those views How to identify the needs (social, political, spiritual) of the person who expresses a position with which you don¡¯t necessarily agree How to express the vision of a world based on a New Bottom Line Understanding of how the Right attracts people who are not racist, sexist, homophobic, anti-Semitic, Islamophobic and whose economic interests are with the Left ¨C and how to win them back How to take these ideas into local social change organizations, or religious or spiritual communities, seek endorsements for proposals from elected officials, and raise these issues with your friends By the end of the training we hope that you will become active in one of the following ways (we will discuss this in greater detail during the training): Join the efforts of the Network of Spiritual Progressives to build a movement that seeks a fundamental transformation of our society sufficient to save the environment, democratize our economy, and replace a society based on selfishness and materialism with a society based on love, compassion, and generosity. Commit to share what you learn in our training with some other social change organization(s). Create a local love and justice circle and/or prophetic empathy practice group. WHERE: The training is conducted on Zoom, a video conferencing platform that allows us to see one another and break into small groups. It is possible to participate via computer, phone, or other devices from anywhere. You will learn about the psychological and spiritual suffering that people experience living in our society and how to help people both understand and overcome it, strategies to create meaningful and lasting systemic change, and skills in empathic listening and speaking that will help you reshape the liberal and progressive world so that it can be more effective in reaching across the

Using Qiqo to Connect Zoom, Slido, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, GoToMeeting, Jitsi, and Google Docs
2
Hello Beth, Here is an integration between Slido and Zoom using QiqoChat. I created an event space on Qiqo with 10 breakouts. I embedded both Slido and Google Docs in breakout room 2 (screenshot is attached). Everyone is invited to test out the link. If you click the green button at the top of that page, Microsoft Teams will launch as the video tool for breakout room 2. In the other breakout rooms, the green button will instead launch Zoom (our default for all breakout rooms), GoToMeeting, Google Meet, or Jitsi. Each breakout space has their own online tools (ie Google Docs, Mentimeter, etc) plus a tool for audio/video. Qiqo is a tool that provides web pages as breakout rooms where participants can see who is in which room and they can move themselves. When we release this feature next week, facilitators & clients will be able connect the tools that they are already paying for (Zoom, MS Teams, Mentimeter, etc). The largest event on the platform so far was last week with 450 participants (video from the client). Honestly, I can use some advice from colleagues on this email list for how to set pricing for this service. What would be a fair way to set pricing that works for people who use Qiqo for free events in their community (they have zero budget but can probably take donations) and also professional facilitators & clients who are charging their participants $60-$1500 per ticket? Suggestions are most welcome. Lucas Cioffi Lead Software Engineer, QiqoChat.com Scarsdale, NY 917-528-1831

Compassionate Listening... Healing our World from the Inside Out (online) - begins Saturday
Such wonderful testimonials from the last session... I hope some of you might help spread the word for others to join the session that begins Saturday! OnlineIntro to Compassionate Listening... Four Saturdays, 10 to 12:30 PST - register here. https://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/4578730 Susan leads an exceptional workshop; I learned so much; I got much better in touch with my heart and what's important as a result Susan created a warm environment rich in wisdom allowing openness and compassion to unfold with ease. It was a wonderful opportunity to lean into our places of discomfort, resulting in a nuanced understanding of how our perception directly effect outcomes with others. I¡¯ve done a lot of workshops over the years, several of them focused on communication. But this one was different. The exercises enabled me to see some things I had missed for many years that were right in front of my face - kind of surprising, but very welcome. The other participants were uniformly kind and committed to learning. I¡¯m glad I did the course and would gladly recommend it to others. During the lock down, I made the decision to use the time to resource myself in different ways, given that I was viewing the situation as an opportunity. Coming across the event on the Work that Reconnects website, there was an immediate resonance and I signed up immediately. Susan created a welcoming, safe container from the outset, and I felt excited at the prospect of what would unfold across the four weeks. Each week we were introduced to new skills, which built on those from the previous week. There was ample time to ask questions and to also practice in break-out groups. So many insights were revealed and I also partnered with amazing people. I am so grateful for both the skills learned and the heart-connections made. Claire (UK) This workshop was adapted well to an online format and I was able to confidently use the tools that were explained and practiced during the workshop immediately in a professional context. I would recommend this work to anyone!

CoronaCircles
This mail to let you know about a new free platform (in German and in English) that enables mindful and deep online exchange in a self-organised group of 5 people. The powerful tradition of circle work is combined with the current possibilities of video conferencing (jitsi). The team that developed it is confident that in these times of uncertainty, polarisation, and transition many people could benefit from experiencing the power of circle. As seasoned faciliators please feel welcome to take a step forward and offer circles through the platform, so that gradually others that are not yet acquainted with these forms of communication can feel inspired and empowered and start hosting small circles themselves. Enjoy and spread the word! https://coronacircles.net With kind regards, Griet Griet Hellinckx Website: http://re-connect.net/ circlesofwisdomblog.wordpress.com/ https://www.facebook.com/groups/circlesofwisdom/ https://www.linkedin.com/in/griet-hellinckx-21258518/

Zoom, Slido & TRIZ
3
Hi everyone, I hope that everyone is doing well and staying safe. I reach out to ask for help. I am considering using sli.do (https://www.sli.do/) as a way to help a group of about 70 people go through a modified version of Triz together in a 2 hour session. Does anyone in this group have any experience using sli.do for TRIZ while using zoom? (I can only imagine how weird that last sentence must sound for someone not familiar with these terms. I'm hoping that this group will know at last 2 of the 3 :) My main question has to do the pros and cons of using sli.do vs. google docs in TRIZ. I have used google docs before but if I want the group to collectively choose the top 3 activities to focus on, I think google docs might be harder with 10+ breakout groups. Thanks in advance for your support. Warmly, Andres -- Andres Marquez-Lara Founder & CEO, UFacilitate +1 571.414.1315 | andres@... https://www.ufacilitate.com/ Washington, D.C. Harness collaboration

#hybrid conference - any experiences?
3
#hybrid
Dear all, has anyone of you experience with designing and hosting a hybrid conference - integrating parallel offline elements in several locations with online plenary elements? (One conference schedule with online plenary sessions/ inputs/... and offline workshop elements in between that will be hosted in a bottum-up decentralised community-based fashion). Background: Covid 19 - work around....Together with a colleague, I was booked to design and host a large (300 pax) conference of youth workers (their annual get together/ learn/ discuss/ party event) in winter 2020. Now with all the uncertainty whether large groups interventions/ face to face conferences will be permitted, we are thinking of transferring it into a virtual space - but only part of it. We figure that small personal events will be possible (up to 10/20/50 people) and we want to fathom how we could combine these (decentralised, community-based, largely self organised f2f workshops) with a online conference pogram that sets a frame for everybody and offers the big community experience incl. keynote speakers, learning, fishbowls with gvt officials etc (similar like a hackathon but more intricate and more social). We are quite insoired yet there are many open questions and I would much appreciate to go into a deep exchange about this, ideally to learn about other (community) events that were set up in a similar fashion. All the best Ruth

Exploring An Experienced Virtual Facilitator for a Large Event for November
2
Hello great group: I am exploring with this group. We are looking for an experienced virtual facilitator for a large meeting that we have coming up in November. We will need someone who can work with us to help plan it, set it up and then facilitate the session. This is for a collective impact network. As well, during the process with the person, we are wanting to build capacity with our team on how to do a large event virtually. We have this event normally 2x per year, about 80 people. I am the overall facilitator and am very experienced with face to face events, but am just learning about virtual facilitation so this capacity building with an experienced person will be great. I am thinking that Mural would be a great platform but am open to ideas. If anyone has ideas about this, can provide advice, ideas on what to say in an RFP, or is interested in this, please contact me Laurie Ringaert : laurie@....
