What mileage are you doing

What year, model, engine are you driving?
With my 2.5l. '92 EVC my target highway speed is 65-66mph with 87 octane. I get 19.5 m/USgal. The van will go considerably faster passing and such, but it's noisier and seems to have more disconcerting vibrations and rattles. I just drove from San Diego to Seattle yesterday (yes, nonstop 20.5 hours)
and at 74mph on cruise control with no A/C on the mostly level valley floor Bakersfield to Redding I got 16.8mpg in my '95EVC. THAT was an expensive trip!! I used regular 87 Octane. ****Get trade secrets for amazing burgers. Watch "Cooking with Tyler Florence" on AOL Food. () |
I drove last Saturday to the Funfest at Motorwerks in Effingham Illinois. I averaged 24.2 mpg driving 60-65.
I use my Scangauge to help me get better mileage. You can see in real time your mpg and it helps you accelerate more slowly. I get my best mpg around 40 mph. I used the cruise most of the way until it started cutting out on me. I replaced my speed sensor tonight and hopefully this will resolve that issue. I have been getting an occasional CEL for the speed sensor, but it hadn't acted up in quite awhile until I got back from this trip. Steve 636-337-7700 888-797-5994 - order desk |

All,
We just returned from a trip to Texas and back, from Oregon. Fully loaded (6,000 lb.) EVC with a bag of fire wood in the roof rack. On the way down it was 85mph+ though CA and Arizona (still getting passed by trucks and pickups) result 18 to 20 on 91 oc. On the way back, a leisurely pace (45-55) though the red rock country and climbing up to 9,900 ft and down and then up again: result 20-22 on 91oc and one time with 93oc in Idaho with no apparent advantage. On a trip to South Dakota we did get 22 going 85mph all day, however we where headed strait east and had a fierce tale wind. Quite the database accumulating here. :^)
1995 EVC, 115k miles, 91 octane fuel, I5/5 speed, and driven around town daily. Nekobasu gets between 15 and 16 mpg in the city. On road trips it can be anywhere from 19 mpg to 24 mpg (coming back from Canyonlands), usually around 22 mpg. On long trips here in the western US I usually manage 70-80 mph. Cruise control is my friend ... With a duffel bag strapped into the over-cab compartment we got 13 mpg from Utah into Nevada. Stowed the bag, and at the next stop boosted to 19 mpg (van loaded -> moving). And living here now in W. Washington hills, local mileage is a bit lower than in the flatter Salt Lake city area. I would say that for its weight this vehicle performs very well, and the engine takes mountains better than some passenger cars. We just came back from a 4,200 mile roundtrip to South Dakota and
averaged about 22 mpg while traveling about 65 mph. Use only premium. Fortunately, the van did great! On road trips where I do the driving (I tend to hold it strictly at 55
mph) I get 20-22. We always use Shell premium. But most of our driving is actually around town, mostly commuting to work with my carpool. My average for all of 2008 is 16.95 mpg. There have been no long trips this year. April 2005. 4655 mostly highway miles. From Vancouver to Loreto, Mexico and back in 1992 EVC with 2.5l I-5 engine: 19.6 mi/US gal (23.5mi/CDN gal). Most expensive gas on the trip US was $ 2.69.9/per US gal Firebaugh, California. I've never measured city consumption. Brian --- In ev_update@..., "Alain gravel" <alain.gravel@...> wrote:

My 99 GLS 12V VR6 has averaged 16.6 mpg over its life in gentle mainly
city driving. I get 18.5 at 65 MPH highway and 20.2 at 60 MPH. Any one who thinks their EV gets better mileage at 70-75 than at 55-60 either has a bad calculator or severe delusions. 1 gal(CAN) = 1.20 gal(US), meaning if you're getting 17mpg US, then
you're getting 20.4 CAD gallon (British imperial) -to correct the previous poster :o) That is on par with the lower end of what we get with our 93 EVC, 5 spd, AAF (5cyl). Our range with 87 octane is about 20-22 CAD Mpg. Hope this helps! nicki |

miles!) And have seen 18 +/- 5 consistently depending on driving conditions and tune-up conditions. That is 87 octane ( found it doesn't make much difference to use higher octane in this engine), US gal, I5 motor, manual transmission, MV body. Actually, I have seen a slight downward trend in the average (maybe 1-2 mpg over past 10 years). I don't know if that is because I tend to drive faster, drive more city miles, car is less efficient (eg small vac leak somewhere), the effects of ethanol prevalence in fuel supply, or some combination of the above.
