You can install them backwards (saw my kids do it once), but there is
no leg room.

Some people say the job is easy. But some say it is not. For me I
don't even know how to start it.

I think I should let experienced people do it. Or I may create more
damage... than fixing the original problem.

Re: Correct price for 2002 EVC with 17,000 miles

John Harkins

Anyone care to venture what the fair asking price for 2002 EVC should be w/17,000 miles, interior like new, car never garaged, new tires (Orig dry rotted), A/C serviced, brakes serviced, etc., car runs well. Also has orig awning, rear screen hatch cover, sunroof screen cover; top bed just installed for first time, never used.

Will sell quickly, once selling asking price established and minor cosmetic work (waxing) completed.

Thanks in advance

Garrett,

Good, you got the routine which is to get the bubbles to settle out of the lines. You will find getting the Norcold out no big deal, however, the gas line can be a little tricky. Good luck!

YES!! John, this was the confirmation I was hoping for! I will be
doing that slosh/burp routine this weekend. Plus, this will be my
first time to remove a Norcold, so I am looking forward to seeing
first-hand what all the hoopla is about! ;) I'll take a bunch of
photos. I've also kept a text file of many of the previous Norcold
posts over the last five years, so I have a long history lesson to
wade through, read, and will get wise before I dig in Saturday.

Thanks,

Garrett

Re: 3rd row seat/bed assembly.

The MV and Weekender rear seat is the same...folds out into a bed. A
recycler would be your best bet.

The GLS seat is the same width but with more contours and does not make into
a sleeper.

The camper seat is narrower but makes into a narrow bed.

Norcold replacement for EVC?

Kris Seago

Hi all,

I've fought my share of battles with the Norcold in my '97 EVC. It works fine on shore power, fine (although for a very short period of time if not charging) on DC, terribly sporadically on propane. Will it light and stay lit on a given day? Will it cool if lit? The answers seem to lie in some odd interplay between temperature, humidity, wind speed, and how much I want the darn thing to light. Success is inversely related to the last variable.

I've cleaned, burped, cleaned, blown out, lathered, rinsed, and repeated.

I've essentially given up on the device as being more trouble than it's worth. I've just finished a 8 day road trip through the South using a cooler + ice (adding a fresh bag of ice daily) as I could never rely on the Norcold.

Has anyone dropped in a replacement fridge? I've taken a look at some of the Waeco models and they seem promising.

Kris

Re: Replacing screens on slider windows

Hi Karen,

I have not replaced any screens in my EVCs yet, but I did have new
screens made (custom job) for a rental property with non-standard
windows. It's an easy gig that surprised me greatly.

In Austin, Texas I found dozens of screen repair outfits (usually co-
located with window installers). I took the battered up screen frames
to one of them and had new ones made. It was cheap, quick, painless
and easy.

If I had to replace any of my EVC screens and/or the frames, I would
simply take it to one of the screen outfits. I wouldn't expect the
price to be more than $20, all told. I don't know where you live, but
any large city ought to have screen repair outfits.

Best of luck to you... and do let us know how this works out for you.

Garrett

Re: More Norcold woes...

Hi Forest,

I didn't catch any previous post or mention that you were having odor
issues with your Norcold. I did a quick search on your name in the
archives, but didn't see any posts relating to this. What is the smell
issue about? Could it be something got spilled on the exhaust flue
when you were in there last? Does the same smell happen when operating
on shore power or 12V? Are you going to pull the unit yet AGAIN? ;)
Best of luck... please post an update.

Re: 3-way fridge

Stuart MacMillan

If the battery is running down while driving, you have a charging issue.
Could be a weak alternator, a bad isolation solenoid, bad connection, etc.

First things first: Remove and clean the coach battery terminals and
connectors. I just had this problem, and there was corrosion limiting the
current flow into the battery.

Then, measure the voltage with the engine at 1500 rpm on both sides of the
isolation solenoid. It should be the same 13.6 volts or more. Do the same
at the coach battery. Then turn on the fridge (12v of course) and check the
voltage at the battery. If it drops below 12v, you have a weak alternator.
If not, turn on the headlights and heater fans and check the voltage. It
should still be at least 13v with all this stuff running.

Good luck!

Stuart

Bob,

Coach battery is brand new (650/750 amps) and it holds a charge great!

What is the status of the coach battery, i.e., how old? Does it take and
hold a charge?

The exact shipping charge $262.35 on my $373.59 order for a total of $635.93. Yes that's very ODD!!

The shipping charges on the muffler are a rip-off IMO. I just called Go
Westy last week and they charge less to ship the whole lift kit including
tires and wheels. Look for another source--I think that Teve at Europarts
has them.

The use of "shipping charges " to make a profit is a despicable practice. I
can see charging a couple bucks for packing and whatever the actual UPS/Fed
Ex fee is but anything more is a rip-off. When I'm confronted with this type
of practice , I tell them that I'm going to look elsewhere and the reason
that I'm doing it.

I just tried placing a order for both mufflers, 2 clamps, 3 "O" rings and 3 sensors. Shipping was like $269 alone. I don't remember the exact figure that brought my $373 order to way over $600. Needless to say I didn't "checkout".
