I had a Panasonic 6 disck changer installed in my 99 Weekender just after
purchasing it in July. It is installed below the front passenger seat with
access to the CD changer from the front. It is a slick installation that I
believe would be hard for a thief to see yet easy to change discs. The
biggest trick was to get the right adapter plug to work with the factory unit
as it took two try's to get the right one. The place that installed it
mentioned that it took about 4-5 hours in finding the right one.

Good Luck

My wife and I will be going to Colorado for 2 weeks, leaving NJ on 9/25.
We're leaving the itinerary open as we don't know how long we'll want to
stay in any one area. We're open to going all over the state, so if anyone
has any suggestions for can't miss places it would be appreciated.
Telluride is a must in the fall. The colors around Mt. Wilson are amazing.
Head up from Cortez then loop around to Ouray and Silverton and down the
Million Dollar Highway to Durango. You won't be disappointed!

My checkbook and I wish I knew. It snaps in nice and snug, and seems to be
stable, but they keep flying off at highway speeds. I'm going to find a way
to secure the new one better.

Eckhard:

Most alarm shops will know what to do if they are a shop that does alarms daily. The easiest way to activate your power locks, is with a new solenoid. What I mean by that is a 2nd power lock solenoid for the drivers do. You hook it up to the knob for the lock. You know, the one in the top of the door. Anyway, how this works is this:

You press the lock button on your remote control, the alarm activated the 2nd solenoid, pulling it down, the factory system (which is not hooked up to the alarm, and therefore can not be harmed electronically from the alarm) see's the fact the door has just been locked and locks the rest of them. To unlock it, reverse. That simple.

I have been doing this type of setup for years, remember most German cars do not have power lock buttons, Mercedes, VW, BMW, Audi, and some Japanese cars do not either, Mazda, Toyota (well they sometimes don't have a button) etc. This is the easiest way to activate a locking system without a switch, for someone that does not have the schematics for the exact wiring.

There are instances where you can apply power/negative to a wire and the locks will react like a switch was used, and alot of alarm companies will tell you where that is, but in this instance, I would highly suggest a $15 solenoid.

Let me know if this is confusing, or if you have any questions.

Any suggestions?

I would not miss the great sand dunes in southern CO. Estes Park is
beautiful and the Elk walk right down Main street. I would plan to
concentrate on the western side of the continental Divide. The eastern part
of the state in all plains. By the time you get here you will have had
enough of the plains.

Actually I've never seen ND plates before, since the farthest west I've ever
been is Toledo, and you don't see many ND plates in NJ.

Re: Planning a trip to CO

Now now Beaumont, lets not let those eastern biases show through! Hey I'm a
transplant from New England where we laughed at folks who came from where
Beaumont was in NY! Terrible foliage snobs, we are.....but all in good fun :>)

I will say, however, that the deep blue Colorado sky against the amazing
mountains which will have snow for at least part of your trip I'm sure Alex,
speckled with green conifers and golden Aspens will no doubt take your breath
away. If it were me I would spend my whole time in the area mentioned a few
posts ago (by I can't remember who already). If you were to base your trip
around his route (Durango, Silverton, Ouray, etc,) I think it will be amazing!

Some things in that area that are quite fun are: Ouray and or Orvis hot
springs, Narrow gage railroad from Durango to Silverton. Driving all those
passes and just gawking at the mountains, mountain biking on the jeep roads
(or jeeping it if your prefer). Eating at Bien Tiempo in Ouray. I bet Mesa
Verde would be nice around now too. Todd needs to now join in with the real
info on where to eat and drink, etc (and I will print his message for future
reference.)

Have a great time!

Sue

Re: Disabling EVC Running Lights

Remember when you disable your running lights you are not using an
important safety feature. Have you ever been on a two lane highway and
been suprised by a car, and wonder where it came from? Just watch for
a while and see which cars you notice further in the distance, even
when paying special attention if is the one with their lights going.

I realize the eurovan is big and white, but extra safety never hurts
when you are approaching a tired driver or drunk.

If you would like to turn them off for in campground use, is it
possible to install a switch in the connection so you could have then
allways ready when on the road? Just a thought.

Re: Norcold fixed - I hope

They fixed it while I waited. They did not, however, recommend drilling
any holes or adding insulation. I asked if it could use more
insullation and was told it was already well insulated and didn't need
any more.

The older guy complained about the design of the Norcold and questioned
the motivation of Winnebago for using this unit.

go figure - good luck,.

I took my 99 EVC to Lodgemobile in Burbank, CA
today to have them fix
the Norcold which would not light on propane. The
problem was a loose
thermocouple which they tightened. That seems to
have fixed my
problem.

Thanks for all of the suggestions and support I
received from this list.

Re: Planning a trip to CO

Welcome fellow EVers to Colorado. There are so many great places here. My
favorite area, however, is down around the Ouray, Ridgeway, Telleride,
Durango area. It is beautiful over there....You basically can't miss. It is
also a little harder to get to so there won't be as many people messing you
up.

If you write back with more details on what you would like to do I can try to
get more specific for you. Also, last time someone (Erik, I think) wanted
info on the Ridgway/Telluride area, Todd wrote back with some amazing beta on
the inside track. If you are interested in this area, perhaps Todd will
suggest some things again.

MORE- Newbie scored a 93 MV weekender... ON EBAY!!!!

Team Degenerate

couple more things on my new LOVE...

she said she paid a total 15K last July at a NJ dealer

also said she drove it daily since and put on 30K herself in that period

Any chance that somebody on the list lives in NJ, NY or CT? I am
driving down from hartford, CT on Sunday to give deposit and would love
to have one of you look at it with me????? Any takers?

heres where it is:

We live in Palermo, NJ 08223. It is in Cape May county. It is about 2 1/2
+
hrs to the GW bridge. If you would like to see it on Sunday I will be at
my moms just outside
Princeton in a town called Hopewell which is a little closer to you.

Newbie scored a 93 MV weekender... ON EBAY!!!!

Team Degenerate

He folks - yes for real on eBay... I was searching all the online
classifieds and just for kicks enetered Eurovan on an ebay search and
BINGO

The seller told me her reserve was 10K and thats what I later in the
closing seconds (when nobody could bid against me BTW) wound up paying
:-)

so is that a great deal or just an OK deal?

heres the scoop:

76K
white
no dents/dings
no rust other than some streaks from behind the rear license plate
new AC system this past summer
great interior
tiny rip in the front of the canvas top
new alternator
no ABS
power windows, locks
automatic trans

anyhow... I am thrilled!

I'm very interested in seeing what others have paid for their 93 MV with
similiar mileage.

Also what repairs might loom in the future

I had signed off the list recently after only being on for a few days
but I am back.... and will surely need help from you volks and look
forward to learning more as I lurk...

Re: Newbie scored a 93 MV weekender... ON EBAY!!!!

Bill,

There is a 93 MV for sale in a used car lot here in Boulder. It is not a
weekender and is in moderately good shape with about 70,000 miles. They are
asking $10,500. From where I sit, it looks like you got a good deal. I would
love to have that pop top on mine.
