Stereo - how to wire

I want to properly wire the following:

- Sony - Head unit stereo
- (4) Sony speakers, powered via head unit (standard speaker wires)
- Amp & sub (always connected to house battery power, amp/sub located under jump seat behind driver seat)
- AC inverter connected to house (mainly for basic charging & use of phone/laptop)
- House battery (under driver seat)
- Main/starting battery
- Retain clock/memory/settings on head unit stereo when vehicle off
- Prefer the ignition key position to still turn on radio
- Rocker switch to allow music with stereo/amp/sub powered from house battery while keeping main/starting battery isolated from significant drain

I attempted this in the past, but I don't think I had an isolator on the main/starting battery.? When I turned on the rocker switch on the dash and powering the stereo/amp/sub for extended periods while camping, I think I was allowing the House battery to drain... but ALSO then it would level with the Main/Starting battery (discharging it in the process).? At least I think that is what has been happening.

Here is a crude diagram.?

Would anybody experienced in this agree that an isolator (as indicated in red) would address the Main/Starting staying "isolated" (at least in terms of the amp/sub)??
Does the charge to the house have an isolator?

But, I also wonder that if I don't change wire #7 from main, then the (4) speakers connected to the stereo will also be pulling power from the Main/Starting battery.

On some trips, I just make a point to start the EV. But sometimes I forget for a bit while I'm rocking out for hours... and the main/starting battery drains. Not ideal as it is not really meant to do that.

Re: Moderators?

I don¡¯t know what you¡¯re talking about Duane. I just got back from African elephant safari with eurovan group members and I think the home page pic is perfectly apropos ;-). JK!

given the crickets resonating in this echo chamber I¡¯d wager there¡¯s minimal activity in the moderation dept. But if you¡¯re interested in that role you¡¯ve got my vote.?

Moderators?

Are there any moderators on this group?? I know Rick is the owner, but he doesn't seem to have time to take care of the "small stuff" like group settings that could improve things or changing the home page picture.? I get the impression that he moved the group here from YG! and then forgot about it.? I think there are a lot of improvements that could be made to make it more useful, such as allowing members to upload (or delete) files and photos or creating wiki pages.

Re: A Question: Setting a Sales Price

Check The Samba for comparable listings. Those, however, will often be wishful thinking prices and can be on the website for a long time without selling. To see what they are actually selling for, on eBay go to Advanced Search and check the box for Completed Listings. Ones marked in red did not sell, ones marked in green did sell.

Hope this helps.

Re: Boss BCP8AW Single-DIN CarPlay Install

For what it¡¯s worth, my backup camera??has cabling running in the top.??Goes into the bit of fixed upper bed section first (mines a 95 camper) then goes inside trim around sliding door, into cab headliner above the passenger, down the windshield pillar trim and into the dashboard.
Wouldn¡¯t work on a later model with the moving upper bed section.?

Luckily, I was doing a remodel inside the van and had most everything apart!

Hi Michael,

Yep, mine is a 2003 full camper.? I ran the wire through the dash, then under the driver's door and through the cabinets on the driver's side.? Yes, it was a pain.? I put the camera just under the stoplight on the window, running the wire up the back and then down through the brake light.? It's got a great view and stays clean.? I usually run with a box on the back of the van so the camera misses all that as well as misses if I have bicycles on the back.? It was worth it in the end.??

Oops - minor correction: I had the model # wrong, it's not BCP8AW but rather BCPA8W. ?I corrected the subject line of this email and the URL:

Of interest, there's also a 9 and 10" model with slightly different model #s (BVCP... rather than ?BCP...) but the features look identical to me. ?
Here's a comparison table: ??

Re: Anyone replaced the steering shaft/column upper bushing beneath the steering wheel switch gear?

One more thing you might try is heating the thrust washer with a torch. Be careful not to overdo it and destroy the heat treatment.

Anyone replaced the steering shaft/column upper bushing beneath the steering wheel switch gear?

I have substantial slop/play in my steering column/steering shaft within the steering column. Not an uncommon issue; ?cause is that the nylon bushing just underneath the directional indicator and wiper controls disintegrates over time. I have the new bushing, but the perishable thrust washer that maintains pressure on the spring above the bushing is no longer available. I have tried driving to screwdrivers between the spring and that thrust washer and lifting/prying,¡ A small amount of movement, but mostly just compressing the spring. I have tried using adjustable pump pliers, hoping that I could get a grip on it and then while twisting back-and-forth, I could walk the thrust washer back up to steering column, but no go. I¡¯m not getting a good enough grip on the thrust washer.?
?
1-Anyone know of a source anywhere on planet Earth for this thrust washer.
2-Anyone discovered how to get that thrust washer off without destroying it so the nylon bushing under the spring can be replaced and then reuse that thrust washer? ?
3-Anyone know if the steering column can be removed from the vehicle and then perhaps , remove the shaft from the bushing by removing the joint at the bottom of the steering shaft? ?

Yes, thank you for catching that Justin.. It was a 3/4¡± T connector not 1/2¡± like I stated. I was sleep deprived when I wrote that :-)?

I have a middle captain seat from a 2003 EVC. It is in excellent condition with only a few minor spots. It's fully functional and comes with four floor bolts.

I'm asking $200. Pick-up only (as it is heavy). I am in San Jose, CA.

Re: Coolant hose connector 2000 EVC

Edited

I recently had the same part fail on my 2000 EVW and I repaired it in a similar way. However, I wanted to mention on mine the barbs were closer to 3/4¡° with the flared ends actually a bulging a lil larger.

It¡¯s possible on the EVC that it is 1/2¡±, but I wanted to mention this for the record.

But of course, YMMV ;-)

Re: Coolant hose connector 2000 EVC

Thank you Duane! Good to have the correct part #. I also did a bit of Internet searching, but couldn¡¯t find any matching parts either. Euro parts SD in San Diego has a thermostat and housing kit, but it doesn¡¯t look anything like the three hose connector/flange with the thermostat. Hopefully the mechanic car will be able to splice something together. If I do find another flange from Another making model That works. I¡¯ll share it on the group. Thanks again.
