Just a heads up, these pumps should definitely be replaced after some years (2 decades or so). I had one fall apart on me while driving up the Grapevine into LA and that ended up causing an overheat

Russ, there is a secondary water pump that is intended to cool for a period of time after a drive period.? I have no personal experience with this (can't say exactly how it works) and have not tested

Californian here...... I can't remember the last time I had the tail pipe sniffer. It's been quite some time..... Lots of visual inspection, and they check OBD, but that's about it.....
