Re: Tire Help...fact or fiction
I have been away from the group for a while and I am so glad to see your name! You really helped me with fan, coolant and AC issues. We took our '95 camper on a trip recently and it started to run

Re: Non-dealer service Encinitas area
Hi Neighbor,
I am in Cardiff and I don't have a good referral yet. I have used German Auto on postal way, he did good work but he wasn't inexpensive. Some people have recommended a volkswagon

Non-dealer service Encinitas area
Does anyone have a recommendation for a non-dealer shop in the
Encinitas area. My 2003 EV weekender recently went out of warranty
(57K mi) and I'm wondering if there are any shops in the area that

Re: Was What's it called, Mine leaks like a doiley, Now 88 Vanagon
This thread has been hijacked! It was originally for a 93 EV with a bad switch or something on the transmission. It is now about a 88 vanagon with no forward gears.

Could be the transmission speed sensor. Does it have a plug with two

Re: What's it called, Mine leaks like a doiley
I don't know if you bought the van that way, or whether the "failure"
was instanteous, or there was a deterioration over time, but I had a
1985 Vanagon and when the transmission went, shifting got

Improving the interior lighting, particularly over a swiveled front

big proponent of LED lighting because it doesn't offer a lot

Re: What's it called, Mine leaks like a doiley
Hello, I am new to this site. A fellow vw owner told me to check
here. When I saw this message I thought maybe someone could help me
out. I just purchased an 1988 vanagon gl with only 78,000 miles.

I'm very grateful for your help Gomi
That might explain this occasional failure to shift into 4th gear as
well. (it actually seems to shift into neutral instead) I'm still
searching for this part name

Re: does the dash clock have a backlight?
You need to pull out the cluster, there are small bulbs that have a
plastic housing for a base- small, usually black or green plastic. You
need to give them a quarter turn with a small pocket

Re: Dash temperature gauge
You DO need the one that is in the thermostat housing- it is not the
square one but the one with one rounded edge. May be the original
black one or have already been updated with a green one.

Re: What's it called, Mine leaks like a doiley
Plastic part, kinda looks like it was supposed to be whitish at one
time but is now yellowed, and is held in by a 10mm head bolt and a
stamped metal c-clip? That would be your multi-function switch.

Re: Tranny fluid and gasket kits
There are several options for parts from this list. I know
europarts-sd.com carries tranny fluid change kits.

Dash temperature gauge
My dash temperature gauge has not been working. (2002 EV - MV)
First thought was that the sensor had gone bad. I'm pretty sure the
sensor is also shared by the after-run pumps which were working

I now have the '03 EVC LED PC board in my hands.
4 wires go from a 10-pin plug at one end of PC

Re: Indicator Lights

When you said "the light quit", do you mean the
LEDs on the PC board on panel over 'fridge?
If you opened up the rear electrical panel, by
left tail lamps, some wires there are stiff &
short.

It went in the mail today.
If you get the opportunity, keep the EV karma going and return a favor
