95 EVC High Altitude KIT ?
Frank Goodrick
Hi All-
We're planning a month in our EVC this Oct. in S.Utah/Colorado/Arizona. We have a 95 Winnie EVC without the high altitude kit. 1) will we need it? 2) my dealer has never heard of free retrofit kits from Winnebago. Anyone accomplish this with a 95 ? Thanks in adavnce, Frank in Toronto ("Jefferson Campervan") videoimage@... |

Have you ever bought the cat? ?That's a great price IF it includes the lengths of pipe on both ends, and with the proper bends. ?Does anyone know? ?I could call ?www.wrenchhead.com themselves and see if they know, but I'd be surprised if they know every bend in every exhaust piece they sell, and shocked if they know much at all about an EV.

An engine of the 90's with everything working BUT the cat will handily pass emissions tailpipe testing, and obviously a gutted cat will pass the visual inspection. ?A fair question to ask is how much environmental damage is done producing a new cat versus how much environmental damage is done driving around with a gutted one? ?There is no free lunch. ?My guess is the best thing you can do for the environment is make sure your OXS sensor is working correctly (my guess is that if your OXS sensor is faulty and slips into its default-to-rich mode, you'll be doing lots more eco-damage than running with no cat at all).

Is weight not an issue? I don't know what the lifting mechanism is, but I wasn't sure it could handle the weight of the canoe. 93 EV's are the simplest EV ever imported to the US. No knock sensor,
no OBD II system, ABS was optional. There are a few known problems: 1. Fuel line leaks. There is presently a recall for a free repair for this. 2. Gages. Many EV's have a minor electrical problem with the fuel/cooling gage. Its an easy thing to fix. 3. Piston slap. Many early EV engines have pistons that for what ever reason are too loose. This makes some noises until they warm up. But it does not seem to cause any durability problems. 4. AC systems. This is the only area that you should really look at. Right in front (And I do mean RIGHT in front, maybe 3" from the tire) of the right front tire is the AC system's reciever/dryer unit. Because its so close to the tire it can get damaged by rocks and stuff. If its leaking oil or anything else have it serviced and maybe repaired to keep the system working. Keep in mind that many of these things have been improved in latter year EV's but the improvments were combined with upgrade that make the latter EV's more complicated. In 97 they went to a VR6 engine and airbags are std. 97's and up are also not avail with a simpler manual transmission. So, early = simple and cheap, late = complex and expensive. |

开云体育I recently had similiar power loss
problems.? My '93 Eurovan would loose power and not rev past 3000
rpm.? I thought immediately that it was an oxygen sensor problem.?
Unpluging the oxygen sensor seemed to help, but only for a few minutes of
driving.? I limped it over to my friends garage and he hooked it up to the
OBD computer and it came up with a bad OXS and bad coolant temp sensor.?
The OXS had been replaced on the van previously and the code might not of been
reset so on Friday I took the cheap route and replaced the $11 coolant
sensor.? This morning (Monday) I was back at the dealer buying the $170 OXS

?
It ends up the cat is toast.? It has a shattered
core.? I cut the exhaust and undid one pipe connection and dumped it out
this morning.? After putting everything back together, it runs great.?
The exhaust rattle I thought I had is gone too.? Turns out it was the cat
pieces rattling around.
?
Has anyone on the list priced Catalytic Converters
lately?
