Update on add on raingutters.

I have pricing on shipping the raingutter kits within the US.

Up to $40 for the short version and up to $55 for the longer wheel base
models. (Winnebagos)

I'll try to post again this evening with total pricing for each variety.

My wife and I are off to Germany this Sunday, so I will be signing off the
list in a day or two until I return in a few weeks.

I will not be able to process any orders while I am gone. We will be
shutting down the business until we return. Any orders that come in before
Saturday will be shipped before we leave. Otherwise we can ship the week of
10/4.

Re: 93 EV-High mileage potential?

Gene Stampfer

I have 292,000 km on my 92 EV; engine has 250,000 km.
Original engine was replaced under warranty by VW in '94.
The only major item has been replacement of timing belt and rebuilt clutch.
These Audi engines do last a while.
My '86 Audi 4000 had over 320,000 km.

Re: 93 EV5 Mileage - timing belt

When I are those timing belts breaking out there? We're close to the 50k mile
checkup. I found reference to changing the belt at 60k. don't really want to
spend the money but think I should change it when its smart. How long did
your timing belts go before breaking?

Thanks,
Sue

Re: How long on furnace

John Waterman

Jesse,
Until the deep cycle battery goes dead or you run out of propane! I
continue to be amazed at how long both last. I would expect you could
run three or four days in pretty cool weather on the propane.
Continuous running of the furnace blower will pretty much exhaust the
battery in one night.

How long can you run the furnace in the EVC? Does it matter if the
engine is on or off? Is the furnace strictly propane fed?

Re: problem with automatic windows

Steve Kammerer

All of a sudden I'm having a problem with the passenger window of my 97
EVC. When I try to close the window it goes all the way up and then
reverses and goes all the way down.
The only way I can stop it from opening again is to try and catch the
window just when it hits the top and pull the switch.
Anyone else have this problem?
Thanks,

High Mileage Potential

I read with great interest the mileage numbers from those who reported and am
very reassured about the long-term durability of the EV. I plan on using mine
for both driving to work but also a business vehicle to drive to VW shows all
Spring and Summer.

The next part of this thread that I would very much like to hear is what
service history these high-mileage owners have experienced and what their oil
change interval has been. Could you take the time and look at your log book
or pile of receipts and tell us what breaks on our EVs as we approach and
pass 100,000 miles and what it cost to fix what broke?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Re: Traveling Europe in a eurovan

Backin the early eighties I shipped a Westphalia from New York to le Havre
in France and from Antwerp (Belgium) to Montreal. I would suggest trying to
find some army bases in Germany where they have people coming and going all
the time. I'm sure they will havecampers for sale. Selling it again is
another problem. Where are you going to sit and how are people going to call
you? They don't have camping places in the numbers that we have. How are you
going to co incide your return flight ticket with the sale of your rig? Now
you know why we shipped ours back

I find a plastic peanut butter jar works great for middle of the night

replace it each time I empty a jar of peanut butter.
I have had similar success with a quart cylindrical glass container made for
salad dressing. Fortunately no glass breakage yet, and if one is careful,
the metal cover will not get rusty.

Also, they have a
portable toilet with a disposable plastic bag system. You can fold it flat
and store behind the drivers seat when not in use. These are great options
if you only plan to use them when you can't find another option.
This is the "emergency backup system" I have carried in my camper for so long
that I have only vague recollections of actually using it, having had other
options available. Someday I may find out if the bags are still strong
enough to carry a load... Something I am not aware of is the currently
acceptable disposal method. Is it a no-no to place it (i.e., the whole ball
of wax, or the bag after dumping the contents in the next available toilet
facility) in the trash, or is it no different than a disposable baby diaper?

AA Maglite suggestion

Larry Schellhase

I placed a holster for the AA maglite on the fire extinguisher
retaining strap. It took a little effort the fasten the clasp on the
strap with the holster in place, but it is a very convienient location
to have the AA Maglite. It is very accessable when you need to make a
trip out at night, or if you want to check the temperature of the
refrigerator without turning on an interior light (I am assuming we all
have indoor/outdoor thermometers mounted on the door of our Norcolds)

Norcold fixed - I hope

Larry Schellhase

I took my 99 EVC to Lodgemobile in Burbank, CA today to have them fix
the Norcold which would not light on propane. The problem was a loose
thermocouple which they tightened. That seems to have fixed my
problem.

Thanks for all of the suggestions and support I received from this list.

Re: 93 EV MV Questions

My MV is a non-weekender version (I need the window covers). I also need info
on tires (my spare is bald and flat, although I have four almost new Continental
tires). I had read about a European in this news group a while back but can't
remember the name.

Traveling Europe in a eurovan

My wife and I want to travel this January for six months or so. Has
anyone done the same in a eurovan, is it feasible to buy one there and
resell it after travels are complete, or even bring it back to the
states (California).
Any thoughts or advise would be appreciated.
