I tow 1500 lbs of boat and unbraked trailer, plus whatever camping gear
will fit into the boat. Twice a year, this setup is towed 1000 miles
roundtrip. The 93 EV 5 speed does much better than either an 84
Vanagon auto or 88 Vanagon 4 speed. I have no complaints about
power or braking.

I have replaced the rubber only with refills from Walmart. The old rubber
is removed from the blade, metal strips which stiffen the wiper are
transferred to the new rubber, which is then slid back in to the original
metal of the wiper blade.

Just a note to let those who have the raingutters on order that they are due
to arrive here in St. Louis on Wed. I'm going to get the paperwork into
Customs tomorrow to see if I can get them cleared before they arrive.

I won't be able to ship them out until next week as I'm heading out of town
for the holiday.

There were no more possible choices I could add. I could split it into two
seperate poll, one for year and one for type. I'll do that, so everyone

transferred there. Everyone who was logged in after I created the poll
should have gotten an email about it as soon at it was created. For those
that have joined the list since then, you would have to go to the egroups
site and go to the polls options to see the poll. Since it was obvious that

On high mileage transmissions, the second gear syncro is usually the first
to show signs of wear.
My 95 EVC has only 72, 000 km, most are highway miles.

The reason it occurs at cold temperatures, is because the oil
viscosity is high. This provides more resistance to the syncros ability
to
"spin" up the main shaft of the transmission. The oil actually warms up
in
about ten miles or so, due to friction and heat transfer form the engine.
There is nothing cheap that can be done to repair this. Although
synthetic
gear box oil might help.
I am running synthetic oil

If however it the same problem starts to appear on
all gears, and gets progressively worse, than it is a sign of a hydraulic
leak, in the clutch system. You will notice that the in brake fluid
reservoir starts to drop. The way it is designed will cause the clutch to
stop working completely before it starts to affect the brakes.

Brake reservoir not dropping.
