Eurovan tire load rating

REGARDING C (6-PLY) VS XL (4-PLY)?LOAD RATING FOR 225/60R16 TIRES FOR 2002 EUROVAN MV WEEKENDER: I have been advised by a local VW specialty shop that C rating is more important than XL rating even it if means a tire that is not rated 102H. My last set of tires were Nokian 102H XL, and even though they still have deep tread they have developed such severe cracks that one of them went flat and is unrepairable(!) after just 10yrs and 30K miles of summer-only driving.

I cannot find a tire rated both 102H and C-load, or I would get that. Can anyone please share their experience and recommendations on the subject?

Re: Antenna

I mount all of my antennas on the luggage bar on my 02 EVC ( I think this won't work for the WE since I think it doesn't have the luggage bar) I have the AM.FM , HAM radio, and satellite radio antennas all mounted to the bar. They have swing down mounts so I can get in "Some" parking garages ( not many) and I DON'T go through car washes.

Just a thought.

I've been searching for an amplified antenna, I'd love to put a 'shark fin'

about 2" clear space there (height).

Any one else have any clever ideas?

On the topic of door locks;
I have a 1995 Eurovan. The driver side goes into fibrillation when I open locked van on the passenger ?side.
I can’t open it on the drivers side.
Any suggestions on what is go on?
I am opening the door later today.

Re: Sliding door lock

Locks are electric, not vacuum. Pull the door card and git to it. Small white plastic clips
get brittle, levers disconnect, the electric pins (4) can get corroded.

Be careful pulling the door card off.

A common issue is that the interior door panel is misaligned and binds the lock button. ?The symptom typically looks like the door tries to lock, but bounces back to unlocked. ?

However, if there's no movement at all then the lock mechanism itself may be failing or there's an electrical connection issue.

FYI there's no "vacuum" assist that I can see - it's just motors and gears.

Here's a picture of the interior of the slider locking mechanism, showing the motor and gears

Antenna

Any thoughts on a replacement antenna for a 2002 Eurovan MV Weekender? Ideally a fully retractable one to prevent carwash damage. The other goal is to pull in the best possible signal.?
While I'm at it, any suggestions for a better radio would be helpful, esp. to support Bluetooth and/or other external audio source input including old school Walkman tapes.

Re: Mechanic for 01 EV WK in Chicago?

Not sure if the 01 Eurovan uses the pass through bolts on the oil pan like the 1993... if so...

if you are missing any oil pan bolts or if they are loose, your EV will leak oil.

I only found this out with the help of ThomasEXXOVCDS.

Here is some info about what I found

Re: Oil around MAF sensor

It is very common to get oil build up there over a long period of time.
It is part of emission control system that is recycling vapor from under the valve cover back into the air intake system.?

Oil around MAF sensor

I recently replaced my MAF sensor. I noticed when I removed the sensor's hose from the engine hose there is a compression clamp holding them together. That area is and was slick with oil. Here is a picture of the new sensor attached and you can already see the buildup of oil residue. Should I be worried? It's not a lot of oil. I did not see any in the air intake (past the sensor). But I'm not sure why engine oil would be making it's way up there. Should I look into a new clamp? Or should I be looking into why there is engine oil up there in the first place? Presumably engine oil shouldn't be making it's way OUT the air intake!
Thanks,
Joseph Elwell.

I have some kind of oil leak on my 01 EV WK. I think bottom part of engine will have to be clean up a bit and then sit for a while to determine what an where this is coming from. Do any of you have a person or shop in the Chicago area that works on EVs? I saw that there was a list somewhere but the reviews were pretty old, and a lot of "Not recommended".

Any help would be appreciated.

spareto.com - another parts source

I have no affiliation with this business, just wanted to share this with the group:?I just got a brand new AC condenser for my 95 from an outfit in Estonia:?. This part is listed as NLA in North America. Genuine Nissen part. DHL took only a few days to get here (Seattle). Check them out if you have a need for a part you can't get - maybe they can get it.

Re: Ticking noise

Check if any turn signal bulbs are burned out. Fast ticking usually indicates one is, though I’ve only known it to occur while the turn signal is engaged.?
