I removed some stripped internal hex bolts using the Irwin Hex Multi-Spline extractors:

If it¡¯s not stripped an impact wrench is your best bet.?

Well that one last bolt on the axle to transmission flange is stuck. The hole for the 12 point drive must have been damaged. When I hold it in right and try to turn it out the drive wants to push out the bolt.

Any suggestions? I¡¯ve cleaned the bolt head with a dental pick and lubed the bolt joint as best I could.?

Thanks for the lead on the axle.?

Have the axle assembly about removed from the van one flange bolt to go (fingers crossed and fresh 12 sided socket).

Who is a good source for these axle assemblies?
?Ones to avoid or recommend?

Lastly anyone have a source for the 14MM x 170mm long lower bolt for the shock and sway bar? Mine sadly needs the threads cleaned with a die and if that does not work looking for a source.

Thanks and hope everyone is enjoying there weekend not removing parts!!!?

Anyone have a Norcold 3163 they'd like to sell?

The one in my new-to-me EVC looks to be plugged up with sodium chromate crystals. I don't need a pretty unit, just one with an intact refrigeration circuit. Anyone have anything?

Re: Axle unit 95 euro & shock bolt

Several suggestions in order of desperation:

1.) Hammer the 12 point driver into the bolt before trying to turn it. The hammering may also loosen the threads.
2.) Use a vice grips to apply more torque to the bolt.
3.) Weld a larger nut to the end of the bolt, and turn that.
4.) Cut off the head of the bolt with an angle grinder.

2001 Weekender For Sale

I am the original owner [with terminal illness (bone cancer at its end stage)] of a 2001 Weekender with 202,000 miles located in Annapolis, MD. It has the original transmission and engine. On every engine oil change (Mobil 1 OW-40) and automatic fluid change (VW recommended fluid only) a sample of fluid is sent to a lab for testing. An uninstalled oil cooler recommend by Duane comes with it as do Bentley books and DVD. Oil analysis results are available to buyer. I do all routine maintenance engine oil change and ATF change using Scan II gauge to obtain proper temperature. Available free to buyer is an ATF change kit: Fill bottle with hose leading under the engine and bent at angle to reach into transmission.

Current condition:
Hood has two spots of peeling clear coat.
Rocker panels are rusted.
One quarter-size (coin) spot is rusted. Located between left front door and sliding door.
Rear lift gate shows four dings obtained in parking lot when another car wanted to share my location. No rust as a result.

Tires are 235/60-16 entyre.

It will be available in about two weeks. Price $12,000 or best offer.

Re: Eurovan Air Conditioner High and Low Side Pressure

There's a long backstory on this - I'm the guy that has had 5 AC compressors installed...
Details here: /g/eurovanupdate/topic/45983180#141663

In the past, the noises have either meant "imminent compressor failure" or "low on R134a",
and I'm curious if there's a way to figure out which is which.

Re: Eurovan Air Conditioner High and Low Side Pressure

I have the same noise problem- I "THINK" it might be the clutch. AC works great- haven't had to add freon in 19 years now- but it is getting very noisy.

Does anyone have a reference for the proper high and low side pressures for the Air Conditioner in a 2000 Eurovan?

The system was flushed and replaced in 2017 (Compressor, expansion valve, receiver drier).
The AC performance is great, and is quiet when it starts up, but it makes weird noises after running for a while.

I just purchased a manifold gauge set and took some readings:

Lo Hi Status
-------------------------
85 85 70F ambient, engine off
30 130 AC on, fan on speed 1
34 155 AC on, fan on speed 4
42 195 AC on, blocking grille with cardboard to reduce airflow

Sources on the internet are saying the Low pressure is fine, but the High pressure might be a bit low, and this could suggest it's low on R134a, but I'm not sure I have the right pressures: I believe the Sanden 1214 compressor is a variable displacement compressor.

Re: Fuel Smell at Heat + Altitude

Be careful using a shop vac. Use the blower side only, if you suck air out of the EVAP canister you might get an explosion as the brushes in the vacuum spark.

Hey the other large site is the The Samba. Or covers all VW so just stick the T2 thread and that should narrow it down.? Good luck?

Re: Can anyone suggest what is wrong, with my air-conditioning I think it is

Hello,
A mouse in the fan motor or ductwork maybe?
When you turn the fan on, did dust or other stuff come flying out of the vents?
Did the scratching noise stop when you turn the fan off?

Welcome Duane,

I still monitor the rialta, eurovan and rialta groups even though I got out of VW powered eurovans 3 years ago when it took a year to get parts to rebuild an I5 engine and they came from all over the world..
I am sure you will be a valued contributor here.??? I currently own a 2020 Thor /Gander Daybreak 22GOC powered by a chev.
