Re: Norcold's stopped cooling on propane
Okay, so it looks like I was wrong about it working. Well I was right that it worked for a bit, but it stopped cooling again today.
Burner is running fine and staying on, just no cooling. Damn I feel stupid. Take it out and leave it upside down for a day? Is there anything else to do? |
getting rid of 2 doors (with parts) from 2003 EV
Brian Copenhagen
I have finally replaced the doors on my 2003 MV Weekender, and I am now faced with getting rid of the old doors. They are emerald green, with minor damage just above the curve. Since I was able to source the matching doors for quite cheaply, I decided to just replace them, instead of doing body work on them.
If anyone has a more severely damaged door, or needs parts from doors, I want to get rid of these in the next week. Potentially useful parts include: Windows + window hardware Interior door panels Exterior door handles Interior door handle (passenger)s (1) Lock stem (1) passenger wiring harness If anyone is interested, I am in Oakland, CA. I can ship the smaller stuff, and maybe even the windows, but probably not the entire doors, unless someone out there is desperate. I can email photos of particular parts. Re: Norcold's stopped cooling on propane
I've cleaned the box already. ?No issues there, but I'll probably replace the burner with the nicer newer version, but that's not the issue here.
I've realized the issue. ?We were off-level by quite a bit. ?I've read a bunch about just how bad that is, but there it is. ?Once we we were level we got back down to 35 or so. ?I'm hoping there's not too much precipitation, but if there is I will work to fix it. Thanks.Peet |
Re: Chronic Limp Mode - 97 EVC
Hey gph,
Sorry for being inaccurate. I meant that the transmission shifted into 4th gear.? Limp mode locks the van into 3rd gear no matter what.? When in limp mode, my van tends to correct itself randomly while driving steadily along the hiway in 3rd gear.? Out of the blue it will shift up into 4th and operate normally for a time. |

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýTrevor Reid is the sky light guy, at least his company has access to a replacement that is the same as the originals BUT he is extremely hard to do business with. ?It may be because he is in Canada and I am not, although he has sent me photos of what he has, he has not responded to my numerous requests to purchase it. Here is his email. Good luck.? If you succeed, please let me know the trick as my skylight is held together with duck tape and bailing wire.? Mary On Jun 23, 2015, at 1:34 PM, rjbedell@... EVC Roof Vent/Skylight Solutions
Yes, I had a too close encounter with my garage Yes, I have searched through the conversations on this site. Yes. It seems I am not alone. Yes, I have searched for the Skylight Guy, but no luck. So, of those of you with cracked/broken roof vents/skylights, what did you do? ?Glue? ?Duct tape? |
Re: Potentially Very Cool Gadget - Wireless Battery Monitor
Looks like a nice gadget.? Of course, I learn of it now after having just finished installing a Victron BVM 700 battery monitor this past weekend in my 2002 EVC! ? I had removed the rear seat/bed and the left side plastic panel?because I was doing the 1705.net Magnetron power converter replacement.? So while?all of this?was open, I?fished the Victron cable from this area, up and behind the closet to the control panel above the Norcold (I also installed Sam's Norcold relay mod while I had the panel off, easy install and Sam's instructions are great).? I drilled?the round hole necessary to mount the Victron display in this panel and it looks really good,? But, I sure would have been tempted by a wireless install!? ? Best, ? Rick |
Re: Gas Tank is releasing dangerous fumes
Hi Dan,
This gas tank fume/pressure issue appears to be common and as JT mentioned has been discussed on the list recently . I have the same problem in my '95 EVC. The consensus seems to be that it is related to the charcoal canister / evap system. However, I haven't seen anyone post back with a clear fix for the problem. If you or anyone is able to solve the problem I would love to hear the solution! It's certainly a potential safety issue not to mention the fumes are extremely annoying especially with the driver side window down on a warm day. Best, August '95 EVC? |

Re: "overdrive"
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýthank you for taking the time to explain this to me! To: ev_update@... From: ev_update@... Date: Mon, 22 Jun 2015 16:33:24 -0600 Subject: Re: [ev_update] "overdrive" ? "Overdrive" is a gear ratio that is designed to run an engine at a lower RPM at highway speed to save on fuel and make less noise. It's a ratio that is less than a 1:1 direct connection from engine to axle. Technically the engine is over-geared at this point and can't technically reach its maximum top speed.? In most common cars the only overdrive gear is the highest gear while the 1:1 ratio is direct below it. In a 5 speed over drive is 5th and 4th is 1:1, in a 4 speed like the Eurovan auto the overdrive is 4th and the 1:1 gear is 3rd The auto gear ratios are 1st 2.71, 2nd 1.55, 3rd 1.00, 4th 0.68 Notice the 1.00 ratio and the <1.00 top rear (overdrive) Now, some modern cars with 8-9 speed transmissions have 2 over drive gears above the 1.00 ratio.? Lee, if you have something similar or better - please share.Glad to! One that's been around for at least 20 years is the Xantrex "LinkLite" / Heart Interface "Link-10" / Cruising Equipment "E-meter". These are all basically the same meter; just upgraded over the years, with name changes as each company was bought out. It's a round gauge that fits in a 2" hole, and has digital readouts of volts, amps, amphours, kilowathours, temperature, state of charge, and too many other things to list here. They run about $200 new, but since they've been made for so long, you can often find used one for less. These are precision instruments, with an accuracy more like a Fluke meter than a Harbor Freight special. At the other end of the spectrum, there are meters like the LightObject EPM-series meters. There are many models, and they keep changing; here's one example: It's a rectangular digital meter that measures DC volts, amps, and amphours. Again, lots of options that you may not need. It's Chinese, so lower quality and the manual stinks; but it works. Typically $40-$70. In between, there are a dozen other options. Hope this helps. :-) -- The greatest pleasure in life is to create something that wasn't there before. -- Roy Spence -- Lee Hart, 814 8th Ave N, Sartell MN 56377, www.sunrise-ev.com |
