Re: Anybody have old speakers laying around?

Bruce Curry

I was thinking of replacing mine w/a pair of JBL's bought on egghead.com's
auction. They have multiple pairs of 4", 5.25" & 6" speaker sets for sale
w/the titanium tweeter separated. You could replace the door speakers w/the
larger pair and find a way to place the tweeters in the existing dash
assembly. (FYI: my set up is the VW 'premium' sound w/tweeters up top and
5"-ers down in the door, so I'm not sure if yours is set-up exactly the same
way.) I replaced my door speakers w/5.25" 2-way and left the tweeters up
top as well. May try again w/some 6"ers. So far no drop in audio quality
based on the additional wattage required.

If you look in egghead make sure to visit the Consumer Products/Home Audio
as well as the Consumer Products/Automotive Electronics sections as they
have inadvertantly left many sets of speakers at the wrong part of the site.
Price is usually about $49/set plus shipping and tax if you are in WA state.

Good luck.

Subject: [ev_update] Anybody have old speakers laying around?

My '93 GL's speakers have rotted out...actually, it's probably only one
or two of them...I know the right front dash speaker is bad.

Has anybody upgraded their speakers and have their old ones laying
around? Wanna sell 'em?

On another note...perhaps someone has bought replacements that work
really well and aren't very expensive?
