The "book" says that the engine code is cast into the head either on
the spark plug side or the oil filter side, I have never found it
there. But the engine code is on the data sticker just to the left of
the fuse block. It should be right next to where it says "engine code"
The production date for the high compression ACU engine is listed as
3/94 so its safe to say that no 93 model year EV's have it. More or
less this engine, in the US, was only used on 95 and latter EV-C's
and Rialtas. In the rest of the world it is still in production today.
But if this is a stock engine there is a simple way to look at the
engine and tell: If there is a big black electric motor/blower (air
injection pump) just in front of the engine then its a high
compression engine.
