The dealership owner also bragged about some
vacationing
individual who refused
service somewhere in the South for a serious
problem and opted instead to
have his EVC loaded on a flatbed and trucked back to
VW of Oneonta so it
could be serviced by a mechanic he trusted.
Considering my experience with 2 Southern dealers, I
do not blame him. Our local dealer, VW of Chattanooga,
is better now but only after cleaning house and hiring
all new service managers and customer service reps.
They were down right rude to my wife once and I swore
never to return.
The next closest dealer, Al Johnson Volvo-VW of
Dalton, Georgia, is worse, much worse. They changed
the timing belt and water pump, left the pump lose,
retightened it after I had to have it towed back
there, and then the pump started leaking again. When I
took it back they kept it for 2 weeks before they
"could get around to it because a mechanic was out
sick." I ended up going down there to have it towed to
a local independent shop to finish the job when the
sick mechanic suddenly was healed. All in all, the
absolute worst automotive experience of my life with
the "we don't give a damn about you or your vehicle"
personified at this dealership, particularily in
individual named Scott Whitfield.
God help the visitor who breaks down on I-75 between
Atlanta and Chattanooga and is towed to Al Johnson's
Shop of Horrors. You will be better off financially
and blood pressure wise having your EV towed home to a
dealer who has competent and timely service.
