New leaker continued

Paul Rousseau

I had the leaker fixed today since it is urgent and I have no time
right now. I checked with a dealer, figured it would be easier to get
it reimbursed if there was a recall. Their service department had some
horror stories about this leakage problem. However when I asked how
they were going to fix it, they referred me to Parts dept, which
claimed the replacement part was exactly the same as the original. I
decided I didn't want to fix a problem with a problem and took my van
elsewhere. I'm still a bit puzzled as to whether the service
department has the tools to put a new crimp on and the repalcment is
really the same. If it is true however, it raises 2 concerns for me:
1. Some people from this newsgroup have had the line fixed by the
dealer. Did they really get a fix, or just a new part which will fail
later?
2. VW is not owning up to the problem (We knew that already) if they
have not changed the replacement part.
