Re: 2000 EVC

Mary,

Sorry for the delay in reply! We were away from email a few days.

By the way, we see late-model EVCs several times a week in our area. There
probably are at least 6 around here. We spotted the first one about last
August in a Walmart parking lot. That's what started us thinking about them.

We are not thoroughly familiar with the `99 but these are the items we think
are new:
* keyless entry
* two alarms - propane, smoke
* mirror on the closet (was gone in `99)
* reading lights over the back bed
* more cup holders

Other than the keyless entry, there are no changes in the EV itself. If a
dealer still has a `99 then it seems a better deal to pay the `99 price and
add the other items yourself.

If you are looking to buy a new EVC, we recommend to not wait long -
especially if you want to try to pay below sticker. We contacted 7 dealers
within a 250 mile radius of us in Northern Colorado and found none in stock.
(The 2000 we test-drove was sold the next time we went back). The dealers
had a total of about 35 on order, about 30 still available with delivery
ranging from a few weeks to "4 to 6 months." All of the dealers claim the
ones on order will be sold in March and April as the summer vacationers make
their purchases. I wouldn't be surprised. 3 of the dealers wouldn't budge
from sticker. Another offered a $1000 discount. The two fartherest away made
the best offers, with the low being $800 over invoice - but he has to place
a new order and we would have to wait for whenever it comes and risk missing
the summer. Finally the local dealer moved a little more in response to the
other offers. It pays to do some research!

Happy shopping!

Steve- Could you please tell me what changes you saw between the 1999
and 2000 EVC? I'm trying to decide if the 2000 is worth the extra $$.

John,
We test drove a 2000 a couple of weeks ago in Colorado.
It definitely had a few changes from the `99, including the
sticker. Yep, they're out there!
