Subject: [ev_update] Re: Tire wear

for the newbies (I had posted this several years ago)

I put on Sears Michelin XCX size 215 R75 15 on the car

Many things accrued

1) increased ground clearance - I can now remove belly pan, and
change oil and filter WITHOUT using jack stands

2) gas mileage increased about 4% - will pay for the tires eventually

3) ride is much better since they run at 35 PSI instead of the 55 psi
of t he old cement donuts that came iwth the car

4) load rating is greater than previous tiers

5) they are quieter

6) so far have logged 40K and wear is less than 1/2

7) for you guys with the 16" wheels - i dont know if they come in
theat size but i think they do

8) and no I have never hit the fender well, or the horn even lock to
lock

9) the ONLY drawback is that you cant put chains on the back anymore
however since I pass people going up hill in the snow who are
slipping all over the place this doesnt seem to be a problem for me.
