Re: '93 EV: Nokian tire ?s [x-post EV-Update]

Michael G. McCarthy

Rule #1 is load rating; reinforced is just one way to get there...another
way is bigger tires. You don't say what size tire you are contemplating or
what sort of weather you expect (snow? chains?).

99 is fine. Some EVs use 100 or 102; it depends on how much load you expect
to carry. Many of us bought used EVs where the original owner replaced the
original tires with tires load rated at 94 or even 92 and suffered no
consequence. Others have had blow outs with those kind of tires. I don't
think anyone has reported any problems with a 99 load rating.

Hi, all

I'm interested in soliciting feedback on those of you who have
experience using the Nokian NRW and NRC2 tires on your EV. Since the
Agilis 51 stock always seems to be spotty, I thought I'd try another
spotty brand and spread it around a little...

Anyway, as an aside, the NRWs have a 99 load rating, which isn't
quite as high as the Agilis' 102/100, but, the NRW is reinforced
(rule #1). It's billed as an "all season" tire as opposed to the
NRC2, which is billed as a commercial highway tire, but fulfills all
the requirements of load rating (C) and construction, as near as I
can tell, to be appropriate for the EV.

Any feedback y'all can provide is welcome and appreciated.

Norman
