No kidding! Based on the sheer number of list members who are reporting
failure of the gas lines and connectors in their '93 EVC's, is should be
obvious that a SERIOUS design defect exists, which could easily result in a
serious engine fire, accident and personal injury or death. I would hope
that anyone who has experienced this problem would report it to the NHTSA
immediately, as well as to VWOA.
Unless the design of the fuel lines and connectors was changed in later
models, which is probably not likely, all of us can expect to experience
this serious problem in coming years. A safety recall would definitely be
in order for all EV's with this obvious safety defect.
It would also be a good idea, when reporting this design defect to the
NHTSA, to also add the fact that even a handful of similar reports
represents a noticeable percentage of vehicles involved due to the
relatively small quantity of EV's imported into this country.
