Hi, I replaced mine with a part from Bross Auto Parts BDP652, "manual fuel fill door gas cap lid release spring for VW". ?
From Turkey through Ali Express. ?Sadly, doesn't look like it is available. ?It was blue steel spring material. ?
Hasn't rusted but I remain concerned.
A quick search for VW fuel door spring brings up a lot. ?You want one that looks somewhat like this below.
Listed as: VW Transporter T5/T6 ¨C Fuel Flap Spring Clip.
It took a bit of bending to get mine in place.
