Thanks for your thoughts. I wish I had the time & enthusiasm to keep it. There’s still nothing out there that compares.
When I say “haul”, I mean towing. I wouldn’t feel comfortable towing a 5000 lb horse trailer with the Eurovan.
As for the transmission, it’s not something I would do myself, and there’s only two shops my mechanic recommends on the west coast, both of which are in that price range.
One is conveniently in Oakland, where I live, but the other, apparently better referral, is German Transaxle, which is in Bend, Oregon. So, getting the van there is already complicated.
Either way, doing major transmission work for a second time is just not in the cards for us.
