with my '93 AAF engine, I use VCDS and an OBD I to II adapter and VCDS reads the digifant computer fairly well, allowing you to see fuel injection opening times, etc.? The labels within VCDS are pretty accurate for the data fields iirc.?

Utilizes 'Blink Codes'...
To read with an OBD II code reader you need an adapter OBD I to OBD II... and an OBD II code reader that bothered to decode the Blink Codes.
the Ross-Tech VCDS is the only unit I'm aware of that bothered to do so.
