Shortly after replacing the battery and losing reverse AT ONCE, and upon research I knew the tranny needed to be reset. Since there was absolutely nothing wrong with the tranny which was running like a dream machine after many, many years of tinkering. Unhappily, reset did not work after multiple attempts. Have not try yet but planning to do disconnecting then reconnect and reset.

Old battery was struggling to turn engine over but new one is not better. Starter is original and could be shot. Had wanted to replace it some years ago but could not get to a?
mounting bolt. Maybe time to retry Could there be a connection here and lost of reverse gear. Wondering.
