The '93 EV MV just turned 100K and we took it in for a little service this
past week. I had the transmission fluid and filter changed and the mount
replaced.
I don't drive this very much, as my wife has taken it over and with her job
and running the kids around, I hardly ever see it.
I drove it to the auto parts store yesterday and noticed that it is a bit
quieter and shifts smoother. There was no clunking between 3rd and 4th. I'm
not sure if this is a result of the replaced mount or the fluid change.
At 100K, we have put 28K miles on it in 10 months. The Nokian tires are
holding up very well with lots of miles left on them. The EV has held up
quite well, and I am trying to concentrate on getting all the normal service
items checked. I now carry a spare serpentine and timing belt, and will have
the brakes inspected this week.
New shocks may be in the future, but I did not notice any problems with the
old ones. The fuel line situation still needs to be resolved. I was hoping
VW would come through and replace them for free.
We are very happy with the EV as long as the head gasket doesn't need to be
replaced. I'll check my extended warranty, however it only claims to cover
"failure of internally lubricated parts"
Other than the fuel line problem, seam rust, and the AT mount, we have not
experienced (yet) any of the other common problems.
